the pointers have played some good matches this season. i think they'll give the Pirates a good game, but it won't be enough

South Point doesn't play the toughest schedule. Pirates take this one with ease.

Re: Burg vs. South Point 9/27
Scoring will be tough for both. Burg giving up late goals which is a killer. Don
't know if SP can pound the back line enough to score more than 1, but 1 can win this match-up

This could be a really nice win for the Pointers. My question though, what in the world happened against Gallia Academy?

Sp 2-1 final ... Burg scored on a scrap goal with 7 min left. Very physical and chippy game.
Dani- mental breakdown defensively with 4 min left in gallia game, weve had troubles scoring all year

If gallia played all of the portsmouth area teams they would win a good amount of games. Division 2 is a lot harder than division 3.

Re: Burg vs. South Point 9/27
the game did get a little rough, but thats what happens when both teams play hard, and play to win. we struggled to find the net last night and SP capitalized on 2 great chances. Good win Pointers. keep your head up Pirates.
Re: Burg vs. South Point 9/27
Wheelersburg still had Keith Thurmer for the West game. Since he has been out, Wheelersburg has only scored more than a single goal in a game once--and that in the game with Clay. With 20 freshman and sophomores and their entire offense and most of their midfield coming from those classes, they will be good next year and certainly the year after. But with only eight upper classmen and not all of them starters, it makes for a physically small and inexperienced team. But I am seeing a lot of improvement as they gain experience. They do have talent and some drive and they did have a lot of good scoring opportunities that they just did not convert. They really controlled possession well the last 20 minutes of the game. South Point has some decent athletes (certainly bigger and stronger than Wheelersburg's but that is about everyone right at the moment). The Pointers uses their wide field well for passing but did not impress on defense---but I have only watched them twice so far this year.
