MSJ does not have a JV team. I wish they would make one however. We have a lot of guys with talent that are not getting any time at all like Travis Combs. A JV team would give them some way to prove themselves early in their careers like Andrew Seaman had to do at Marietta a few years ago. We already have an excess of players so why not recruit a few more to fill out another roster?

Southern state takes care of Wright Patterson Air Force Base tonight 90-53. Up 42-33 at half, wpafb came out and cut it to 44-42 with 15 min to go. Coach Mac got a T soon after and the energy picked up. Finished on a 46-11 run. Played all 10 guys in each half. Good team win. 5 guys in double figures. Hillsboro high grad Tyrand Cumberland found his stroke again hitting 4 3s and scoring 14 pts.

MSJ won another league game(4-0) yesterday at Manchester University beating the host team 60-48. Jake Daniels controlled the lane against the Spartans grabbing 8 rebounds and forcing the opposition into numerous bad shots. He also dished out 3 assists. Andy Countryman also had a solid game netting 6pts and controlling our teams tempo. Travis Combs got good minutes for the first time this season and played well but was did not score. Jordan Payne played his best game of the season scoring 6pts. He did a better job handling the press in this one than against Wilmington in our last game. Joel Scudder led the Lions with 26pts(8 3's). The Mount is 5-3 on the season. Their next 5 games could be the toughest stretch that anyone in D3 basketball will play this season. In those five they will play #7 Franklin & Marshall(PA), #12 Wooster, D1 Wright State, Rose Hulman(tied with MSJ for first in the conference), and Hanover( one of the best teams in the league. Played Butler, who just beat Indiana, tight in a regular season game until a late run by the bulldogs in the second half. Should be fun to watch.

Saturdays game vs ivy tech, we did something I have never seen before. We had two guys with triple doubles. I'm sure it's happened but I haven't witnessed it.

Our point guard, Ty Harris had 15 pts, 10 assists, 11 rebounds

Our swing man Brandon Whitlock had 26 pts, 10 assists, 11 rebounds

MSJ lost their last two games against the #8 and #12 teams in the country by a combined 16pts and were in both games till the end. I think the lions are proving they are much better than the 9th place finish the coaches picked them for in the conference this season. Countryman, Daniels, Combs, and Payne all played good minutes in both games. Countryman finished with 15pts against #8 Franklin and Marshall while Daniels hauled in 10 rebounds. The Mount's next game is against D1 Wright State on the 30th. Should be a good opportunity for our guys to get better.

Won't mention names that were lost. There were 3 non starters.

Dante Bryant will join us in the new year. He played at SSCC last year and has been with us since August.
We have another quality player coming in starting school and playing with us starting the new year but will wait to name him till he is verified 100% eligible.

keeping them eligible at a community college is always a crap shoot. i know a few years back brady brought in some good players
and the majority of them were gone at the semester.

Yep. I was concerned because only two players had ever attended college class before! We are fortunate to maintain a huge percentage of our basketball production. And starting lineup! We should be better second semester.

MSJ loses a close one to D1 Wright State 58-49. Peebles alum Jacob Daniels led both teams in rebounding with 8 and played some awesome interior defense. Also, Peebles alum Andy Countryman scored 5pts in the contest. MSJ sits at 5-6 (4-0 in conference) on the year but have played a VERY strong schedule including 3 nationally ranked D3 schools, a 9-4 D1 squad, and two other schools who are either leading their conferences or are picked in the top 3 preseason in Thomas More and Depauw. Their next 3 games will be no less challenging as they take on a Hanover team at home that gave a scare to Butler earlier this year, a Rose-Hulman squad that is 10-1 and tied with the Mount for first place in the league, and a Transylvania team that has already beaten two nationally ranked opponents. Should be fun to watch.

New players:
Martise Mclaurin-beechcroft in Columbus. Crazy athlete. 22pts, 11rebs in his first college game with us vs ouc
Jovon freshwater-Marion Indiana

We lost Tyrand Cumberland, keontez Malone, and dresan Mathis to eligibility. So only two kids from out of the area. Dresan is still in school living in Hillsboro. Keontez moved back to Louisville.

We are southern state. We are d1 in the USCAA. Clermont and valor are two local teams in d2. We are the only juco in d1. We will be moving to d2 next year.

We are now an independent. If u go to theuscaa.com website, u will see the teams in our division. We r top 5 in nearly every category. Tied for the best record in the country at 14-2.
