Re: WEEK 7 IRONTON VS. COL. BISHOP WATTERSON
After hearing about the Johnson Central game I really dont have high hopes for us this game. In the past you could pass on the Tigers, but you werent going to run the ball especially up the middle, but this year our middle is like swiss cheese there are so many holes in it. If Ironton can come out and play D like they did in the 4th quarter of the Ashland game the have a huge chance of winning. Lewis is always a block away from breaking a long TD run, but our defense especially our line has to come to play BIG. Our line play on both sides of the ball has been horrible.
Re: WEEK 7 IRONTON VS. COL. BISHOP WATTERSON
Not even the Ironton haters should accuse them of being afraid to schedule anyone.
Re: WEEK 7 IRONTON VS. COL. BISHOP WATTERSON
Watterson has 60 kids on their roster. They lost 28-14 this week to next weeks opponent in a hard fought game which many thought would be a hartley blowout. I will say Ironton is definately on the right track be starting to spread it out and throw the ball. Too many times they have been stuffed on the run and had no answer to that. I think they can beat Watterson in a close one. But hartley is another story.

If Ironton's defense shows up this week this will be a dandy if not could be a long night for the Tigers.

Anyone know if Adam Webb and Nick Culbertson be ready to go for this game, and how is Patrick Lewis and Tanner Schweickart doing?

trying to get some watterson information on here, not sure of their enrollment. but they are a catholic school in d3. not sure whether all boy school or not.they are a perennial powerhouse and known for their knockdown drag out wars, with another opponent that fighting tigers fans are very familiar with columbus desales.
more often than not the battle between desales and bishop watterson wins the state title in division 3.
Watterson is NOT an all boys school. St. Charles is the only one off the top of my head that I aware of, but I'm sure there are others.
I know Ironton has faced Watterson at least 1 time previously, but I think it was a home and home series around 95-98 time frame.

Re: WEEK 7 IRONTON VS. COL. BISHOP WATTERSON
i just hope some of our injuries are substantially better. i think the weakness in the middle of our dline, can somewhat be helped by some stunts and blitzing. we simply are not blitzing any , and putting our linebackers are in a situation they are catching back instead of attacking them.
part of it is our interior linemen are not staying low. if nothing else the nose tackle needs to clog the a-gap up, even if he has to drop to clog the hole under pressure.but every team has come to the same conclussion scouting us, attack our middle.on offense we must sustain our blocks longer, our interior linemen have to keep their butts down, and thow them shoulders back in pass blocks.and must go to the whistle on run blocks. we had to be able to not only run the middle but get our backs outside. this should be a dandy.

Watterson is not as powerful as previous years but they are still a formidable D3 school. Rooting for the Tigers but I think they lose another one to a bigger school.

I was walking in behind the older gentleman that used to take pictures for Ironton at the Portsmouth game he used his press pass to enter the game but then continued to walk in front of me to have a seat on Portsmouths home side ?
