N4da'score wrote:If West wants to WIN this contest........PASSING is a must, 9 of 10 plays has to be a pass! Valley is too stingy against the run,and also has one heck of a pass rush defense from the ends IMO. We will see if the Valley secondary is up for the challenge this week as they showed some signs of light Friday against Waverly's very good QB. This game will be your usual slobbernockner SOC 2 game @ "THE ROCK" as West will be playing for some pride! I feel though Valley will be victorious in this match by 3 scores ..... :aaaaa4
WOW..................IS ALL I CAN SAY!!!!!!! :aaaaa46

As a valley fan all I can say is that is not the west I'm used to seeing. To be on there home field I didn't see that fire they always bring. Valley came out and played there game. Win the line of scrimmage and keep bringing it and eventually they will break a big play. The passing game looked good. Only thing worries me is west got consistent pressure from blitzing the outside and with us sending everyone out it forced some bad passes.

Maybe West just isn't as good as everyone pumped them up to be.... And maybe Valley is better than anyone wanted to give them credit for.

I remember in the preseason SOC II threads that most everyone figured Valley would be in the bottom 2-3 of the league. Crab's Bro, Coop, Crab, Jesco, starbase, and a few others kept saying that this team would compete and open some eyes. There were no 10-0 projections, just a bunch of level headed guys saying the Indians would be in the thick of things. If nothing else, maybe this will shut up the "product of schedule" talk that people keep throwing around. Valley may lose in week 9 and 10... Who knows? All I know is this team and this program has done themselves well this season, no matter the finish. I just wonder how many more years of beating West it will take to get a little respect from the Siders?

That's West that I've seen in most of their recent match-ups against the Indians. Valley has had the big boys to play with West up front, and the game breakers and balanced attack to make plays on offense.

I posted this once...not sure where it went.

Just got back from the game....Here are my thoughts...

First off it is good to know that Valley doesn't have the worst PA announcer in the league. I will leave it at that.  Second, the parking, or at least leaving the parking lot, at West is just a royal pain in the rear. Just a complete cluster.

I thought West did a very good job against the Valley run game. We didn't get a lot between the tackles but once we got the passing game involved and the running game got to the edges, things really opened up. West never really even threatened to score most of the night. The Indian defense was very, very solid. Big games from Nate Arnett and Zach Shope on the defensive side of ball. Ethan Holbrook and Will Howard had good nights for the offense. The Indians continue to become more balanced and more confident each week.

With Northwest on the horizon, it is a good time to get healthy and get ready for the last two weeks of the season.

A big congrats to coach Crabtree. Coach became the all time leader in wins by an SOC coach at one school tonight. The win this evening was his 173rd career win (all at Valley) and that ties Ed Miller's 173 wins at Wheelersburg. In his 23rd season his record is 173-65. Not bad considering the 1-19 start. A 78.9 win percentage over the last 20+ season. Not too shabby!!!

Congrats to the kids from Valley for picking up another win, gaining more experience, getting better and moving on! A big congrats to coach Crabtree on the accomplishment!! Lord knows it took us all enough time to get the total straight

As for a comment I read somewhere in the last week or so, it said for Valley to "act like it" in reference to being the defending SOC 2 Champs. Well, I just referred to West as "another win", and after beating them 4 years in a row it's a valid statement! On top of that, another of the former "Big W's", Waverly, has become a step-stool only a notch above Northwest in terms of consistent competitiveness! Valley is here to compete and they aren't going anywhere any time soon. As far as my comments about the other programs, I'm sorry for your struggles, but they ARE NOT my problem. They can NOT be fixed on here. I do wish you guys luck, sincerely! In the meantime though, you'll have to excuse us as we assume our seat at the big table! You can rag on our schedule all you want, but I'll take 173 wins (and counting) by kids from Valley over the last 23 years any day!

Go Valley!!

I'll agree Valley will show up ready to play!!

Excellent analysis by my fellow Valley posters. I, too, would like to congratulate Darren on an outstanding run. I played in an era when the Burg, ND and West dominated the rest of the league. I wasn't on the receiving end of the 70-0 throttling by ND in the 70s but shortly thereafter Paul, Donnie, Frank, Dean and company started to turn things around at Valley. Darren took control and built upon their success. Darren, Scott and company have elevated the program to an even higher level. Collectively, they have instilled a winning tradition based on a solid foundation of off season conditioning/weight lifting, teaching/stressing/practicing fundamentals and they have installed a sound program at the lower grades. Others can minimize Darren's success by belittling the schedule but for those of us who remember those earlier years we are extremely pleased/proud to see the Indians play, compete and win games against the aforementioned teams. If you have never played the game you can't possibly begin to understand the arduous and daunting work these kids put in to ensure they carry on and build upon the previous year's success. Some teams fail and some succeed but there is no denying winning begets more winning. That's football and sports in general. The league is at its best when you have 4 or 5 teams with a legitimate shot at a title. It elevates the level of play, competitiveness and helps ensure success in the playoffs. IMO

Question: What was the deal with that extended official time out in the first half that had the conference between both coaches that seemed to look as though the officials had no clue as what the heck to call or due that resulted in a Sheriffs Deputy that had to "STAND GUARD" over the guy holding the downs marker the entire second half?????????????? :122248

From what I seen, the officials were confused. But as far as the guy holding down marker. He looked like he was arguing with coach Crabtree ( which he should have been kicked out of the game, the chain gang should in no way interfere with the game) Right after that problem with the.west stick man, they issued a deputy Sheriff to him to baby sit his mouth.
