Re: Week 7 Portsmouth @ Gallia AC
Portsmouth is very lucky to be a 1-9 team....I feel for the kids......They deserve better.......Apparently the community is okay with a Northwest type team...Decades of despair....Take care of what you can on election day or continue to allow a select few run roughshod over you.

Football at the High School level is cyclical, the Trojans are young & growing , and playing and have played a tough schedule against alot of opponents with winning records, keep you chins & heads up, keep on striving/ :12223

Re: Week 7 Portsmouth @ Gallia AC
having seen both of these teams play ironton, i'd have to go with the blue devils on this one.
and the comment about outsiders, i take from this . we know there are big problems in portsmouth, but at least tiger fans want them fixed. we want this storied rivalry between portsmouth/ironton at it's peak again.but realize coach's have a heart as well, man that a tough gig. correct your problem's in closed doors , and get back to trojan football. WHATEVER IT TAKES

Then why don't you coach Mr. Penn St. Besides... this outsider picked Logan to win and picking Gallia Academy to win too!LetsGoPSU wrote:love how all the outsiders have all the answers to our problems

Evidently the insiders have no answers either. Portsmouth will be lucky to win one more game this year and that will be against Chillicothe and even that isn't a given.
Someone above said that high school football was cyclical and that they are young. Well, have they been young for the past several years because it's the same thing every year. One or two wins from a team that on paper should win a bunch more. It's not like they don't have the athletes so it has to come down to coaching. Of course us Burg fans love seeing Clifford across the field because it's almost a sure win every year.

It's the same in Sciotoville as is Portsmouth. If you don't belong to certain families or in the Sciotoville click... you can't change anything!LetsGoPSU wrote:Mr Penn State...thx I take that as a compliment....as far as coaching, they cant pay enough...my point being this, take care of things in your own closet, ours will be handled from within
And, I might add... staying a loyal Penn St. fan after all that has become of that scandal--must be hard to do sometimes! Comparable to the Catholic Church scandals! But, there is a difference between Portsmouth and East... that being Clifford has proven to be stupid with his play-calling and, not getting his kids prepared. Don't have to watch the games to figure this out; same coach; same results for the last 5 years.

It really wasnt difficult to get behind the young men that have stayed at Penn State,Great kids that had nothing to do with what happened. They are playing a good hard brand of football and give everything they have each week. They are one half of football, and an extra point, or FG(missed 5 kicks vs Va) from being 5-0.

Re: Week 7 Portsmouth @ Gallia AC
I can remember that in the 70's (when I was a kid) and in the 80's in high school; Portsmouth was the team in this area. Heck, even in the 90's they were considered the team to beat in these parts. Now, that is not so much the situation. Rest assured Portsmouth could still throttle the smaller schools in our area (Green, East and Notre Dame) but, is this what the team who's very name (Portsmouth) has dwindled to represent? A small schools champion!
Wheelersburg, Minford, Valley and West have all got great established programs now. As good as any in the state. They all have new facilities and schools as Portsmouth does. They all have similar enrollments; some are a little bigger and some smaller. But, these 4 schools seem to produce champions and deep runs into playoffs in various sports; a couple do in every major sport! (Football, basketball {girls & boys}, baseball and softball.) Why? What makes these schools most of the time better than Portsmouth in football most of the time?
You can't tell me that the players from any of these other 4 teams are better football players than those of Portsmouth's! Because, you can take those kids on any of these other teams and they would be just as skilled and talented as the others. Difference? Coaches with solid programs.
Answer: You've got the nice schools and great sports facilities! You've got the athletes! We all know that Portsmouth traditionally has a huge fan base! Well, I think you can figure the rest out!
