Fort Frye playing for a chance at a PVC title. Caldwell playing for nothing more than pride. Limit big plays and I like their chances.

Should be close if Caldwell plays to its capabilities. Then again, 'Skins lost to Frontier and FF playin' like gangbusters now.

Fort Frye needs to get over this road game bug 4-0 at Home and 1-2 on the road.It could be because the best 3 teams they have played have been on the road.Caldwell needs to get that monkey off their back and get that 1st league win.In serious though Fort Frye was beating Frontier 40-0 going into the 4th.I like going to fairgrounds to watch games. If Rayner and Hardesty do not play the Skins will be really hurt on defense.

FF loads the box, and you stop caldwwell. simple as that.

Man, if only someone would have told Central, Barnesville, River, and Frontier that.vigril wrote:FF loads the box, and you stop caldwwell. simple as that.
It's not as easy as simply "loading the box". Their offense isn't pretty, or flashy, or anything like that. But it's been getting the job done. An offense that couldn't find the endzone hardly at all is now putting up enough to win ball games. It's the defense that needs to step up.

I haven't seen River or Barnesville but Monroe Central is kinda soft.I was at Trail vs Caldwell and Trail handled the run game pretty well.FF has 3 good Lbs in Schilling,Alsbach, and Chandler Lang.Chandler Lang has over 70 tackles and I think he will have an impact on defense.Personally I would load the box with 9 guys and let Spencer and Massey just play a side of the field.Fort Frye is fast and I think FF will make big plays with team speed to win this game.

Work has kept me from being able to attend most games this season, but from what I've read and heard, the offense they use now shouldn't be compared to what they used against Trial early in the season. It's much simpler. They don't run a lot of different plays. But what they do run, they run well. Have a lot of RB's to throw out there too. Depending on the health of some, you could see as much as 4 or 5 different players playing the position. Freshman Bricker Lori is one to watch. Over 120 yards on 12 carries against Frontier, and I know he had over 100 against River as well.
Sure, you can load the box against them, but it's not that simple. You better be able to maintain your gaps and have some sure tackling LB's. One broken tackle, missed assignment, anything like that, and it could be a lot of green in front of the RB. Big plays are what Caldwell has to limit. It'll be interesting to see if they can contain FF's speed.

Fort Frye has the PVC #1 Offense at 31.14 PPG and #1 Points allowed defense at 17.0 PPG...Caldwell comes in at 6th ppg 14.85 and 6th in defense at 27.14. Also Chandler Lang has 20 total tds in 7 games.

Also anyone see Barnesville vs SCC Cath score???Yep Barnesville lost 63-14...Barnesville is a bit overrated tho they beat a decent Trail squad.
Re: PVC: Fort Frye 5-2(3-1) @ Caldwell 1-6 (0-4) Week 8
I don't think either team can stop the other much. By now, there's plenty of film and scouting on Caldwell's "new" offense, so maybe Fort Frye's coaching staff can come up with a wrinkle or two to make some big stops at the right time.

Why can't FF stop Caldwell?Even in Caldwells current hot streak theyeve scored 8,21,25,29 FF avgs 31 more then Caldwell has scored all season.Beside River what team has ran the ball on FF????Frontiers big backs dident do much and Howell and Merckle are better then anything Caldwell has.If big FB Rayner is out this might get ugly.

Frontier ran fairly well, but they gave up on it after getting down a couple of scores.

What is sad is that this could even be a game considering one team is 1-6......the P.V.C. is arguably the worst small school football league in the state this year considering that Fort/River are the class of this league and everyone else is able to compete with them.
Caldwell has good young talent all over the field and could be very good the next few years. They have Lori who is a stud running back, Fr Cobb starts at linebacker, Fr Heller and Clark start in the secondary and Clark sees time at QB. They also play Fr lineman Chance Rucker and maybe the best Fr other then Lori is the Ivey kid who has been out hurt all year. Throw in a few good sophomores who see time along with Juniors Minosky/Carpenter/Cubas/Cartell all back next year and they should be dangerous.
As for this year.....rebuilding.
High school football is much more exciting then the cross that I have to watch on Saturday mornings.

Frontier actually was terrible running the ball vs Fort Frye 96 yards on 34 Carries that's 2.8 yards a carry.FF had 496 yards vs Frontier.

Give Fort Frye credit they are very fundamentally sound and play hard the entire 48 minutes. Caldwell is very young team who has its ups and downs but lately have played everybody extremely tough. Preditction: 6 points either way

Caldwell just lost to a team at home that FF was beating 40-0 in 4th qt when they brought in JV.

Caldwell" s last game was at Frontier not Caldwell.
