Week 8: Vinton Co. (1-6)(0-2) @ Athens (6-1)(2-0)
Vinton County will roll into R. Basil Rutter Field this Friday and clash with the Bulldogs on Senior night. Thoughts?

The Vikes need a log truck break down in the road between McArthur and Albany.

Athens might wanna start there jv in this game and if iv would start it would still be a blowout
Re: Week 8: Vinton Co. (1-6)(0-2) @ Athens (6-1)(2-0)
This game will be more respectable than last weeks game at Alex. Although Senior night at Athens, I can see more of a mix of key JV players in with the Varsity early in the game. After the beat down against Waverly, they cancelled their JV game against Athens so there are 4 extra qtrs. to gain some more JV experience.
The Vikes could try double coverage on the receivers to force the run and stop the run somewhere down field with those eight men I know it sounds silly, but If correct I heard Athens average time of possession to score was 51 seconds at Alex through the air. Although Arno tried everything possible to use up time and keep the ball out of Joey's hands, I'm surprised he didn't try double coverage on each receiver also. Maybe that would have worked out better than going for 4th and long all night instead of punting. Just sayin........
Good luck to both teams in an injury free game.

Yes it is a known fact that the Vikings are down and Athens are playing very well right now. With that being said, your comment on the score is very classy. It is stupid, but I guess some people can't help from running kids down when their team is down. Now I would just like to see some of you people make that kind of remark in person. Nope that won't happen because people like you don't have the nads.buckeye_nut wrote:187 - 0 ........Dogs!!

This game is going to be a train wreck, no matter how you try and dress it up. I mean no disrespect to the VC boys and wish them well, but Athens is just that darn good this year.

Vinton Co. has played much better over the past few weeks and seems to be getting better with every snap, Athens will need to respect the positive things that the Vikings have accomplished and continue to work hard this week if they expect to meet their goals for the season.

Great response Vlad. Disrespect to the kids is what this guy is showing. I guess it must be easier to be humble when we are down, and easier to be a jerk when you are up, and behind a tag name and keyboard! I've heard some of our fans actually say and I've thought the same thing, I wish that Athens and NY played on Saturday week 10 so I can support my kids on Friday and come watch these to strong groups of Student Athletes compete. That is who all this is about the KIDS and people need to remember that before they post. I love football and support all kids who play it. I wish all the teams success in the TVC except when they play us but I still then wish them well. Because they are kids.Vlad III the Impaler wrote:Yes it is a known fact that the Vikings are down and Athens are playing very well right now. The only way VC could beat the dogs is by have 1 48 minute drive that results in points..........
Athens will win big! How big? Depends on Coach Adams.
The Athens Seniors will get a lot of playing time.....

You are a very classy person atown. I'm sure you haven't forgotten all of the garbage you've heard from back when Athens was taking it on the chin. It would be very easy for Athens fans to boast now that they are they ones dishing it out on the field. As for the game, o&b is right. VC has to put together drives that eat the clock. This team needs to finish drives better than they did last week. The Vikings have the chance to show that they won't roll over and play dead. Keep your heads up and play hard for four quarters! Hit hard, and make the Dogs remember they played you, win or loss. As for Athens.. good luck each week after this. Stay healthy and take it one game at a time.A-Town Big Dog 2 wrote:Keep in mind the post wasn't made by an Athens poster.

Great post transplant,I am anxious to see how some of these people post when their teams go through some down years and teams like VC and Belpre start beating them. It will happen but they all seem to think that they will always be on top. It is all about the kids and the kids from VC and Belpre are trying as hard as the kids from these winning programs and will become more competetive against these programs that are on top now.I still wish all the TVC teams success as they go through the playoffs and support all of them when they aren't playing my teams but I look forward to beating them in future years.vctransplant wrote:Great response Vlad. Re: Week 8: Vinton Co. (1-6)(0-2) @ Athens (6-1)(2-0)
Vinton Co. has a talent base big enough to pull from to be competitive on a consistant basis it just seems like they need something or someone to bring everything together. Winning breeds winning and grows the program but as much as I hate to say it when a program gets used to losing it almost becomes acceptable and the kids sorta feel like its just kind of the way things are. The TVC as a whole will be better when the Vikings get back on track.

IM a loyal BUCKEYE FAN .Not all of us feel the same ...Athens got better NY always near the top ..If or when Vinton gets better it will make all TVC OHIO Teams better.
Re: Week 8: Vinton Co. (1-6)(0-2) @ Athens (6-1)(2-0)
Give the Vikes a couple more seasons and they will be very competetive. Good Freshman and Sophomore base will make for some exciting football in the next few years. The boys have heart and don't give up. That is a great quality to see on your kids!!!!
