A-Town and Bulldog you guys are class acts. You are never disrespectful to the kids or programs. You have my respect for that alone.

Athens will win without any problems VC is down as known and Athens is really up, it will be interesting to see if Athens leaves their starters in as long as they did against Alex waited till it was 64 to 7. Just what I was told by an Athens fan that was at the game I wasn't there.

Good luck to both teams staying injury free.

The Athens starters played the entire first half and half of the third quarter (until 5:47 remained) which is basically what they have done in previous weeks against Warren, Waverly, and Wellston and while the score was 64-7 at the time, I don't believe the coaching staff was running up the score just to do it although I'm sure some won't agree. The Athens kids haven't been pushed since the Jackson game and I think the coaches realize that the kids need to work deeper into the game or conditioning may become a problem when the starters are forced to play a whole game.

Think they should of ran ball more, kicked xtra points instead of going for 2, cause they may need place kicker in playoffs. May bite em in the arse. My opinion not tryn stir the pot.

I'm not trying to be mister know it all or anything but Athens attempted the PAT kick after 9 of 11 TD's in the Alexander game. The two Athens kickers combined for a 7/9 effort kicking and both 2 point conversions attempted were successful.

I know I was there, i was just sayn if you are up that big, why pass? Work on running game, why go for 2? Work on kicks, you never know when you may need to grind the ball to run clock, kick a fg from 25 to win. It can and may bite em come playoff time. There are teams that can defend the pass that match up with Athens in playoffs im sure. Work on little things is all. Good luck vikes and dogs

First off congratulations to the Athens Bulldogs especially the Seniors on win #7. My hat is off to the Athens coaching for showing their appreciation for a hard working group of Seniors by starting 11 Seniors on defense for the opening series against the Vikings. Vinton Co. was determined not to get beat by the explosive passing attack the Bulldogs possess and opted to play multiple DB's man up on the receivers with both safeties playing over the top in bracket type coverage which allowed the Bulldogs to work on the running attack that many have questioned, the Athens squad answered the challenge with 5 different runners scoring a total of 8 rushing touchdowns. I believe Joey Burrow did eclipse the 2000 yard passing mark during the game and threw his 32nd TD pass of the season along the way. Vinton County does look as if they have some pieces to be reconed with in the coming years, the offensive line was bigger and more physical than I expected and the running back #33 was a load at times. Keep your heads up Vikings, your time is coming if you continue to work hard and improve. On a side note, I did see a VC fan being transported out in an emergency squad near the end of the game and I hope the lady doesn't have any serious problem and has a speedy recovery. Good luck to the Vikings the rest of the way!

Well we gave it a shot. Them Vikes got after it and banged with them Dogs. The youth really showed in this type of game. But they never quit. I love that about this group of kids. The over all team speed of Athens was sick. That caused alot of our problems with tackling. I like the game plan to slow up the pass but when you have a run and pass combo like #'s 10 and 2 Wow what do ya do. Got to make more tackles. The hits were there just couldnt hold on. We are on our way. Glad you graduate what 18 seniors from the football team. Wow!! Oh yea I almost forgot # 10 and #2. They are not seniors. TVC Ohio we all got to chase these kids for another few years. Good luck Bulldogs the rest of the way. I wish week 10 you guys would move the game to Saturday so I could watch my Vikes and come see the showdown between the Dogs and the Buckeyes.

Well put by the last two posters. Athens was very quick and elusive. The Vikings may have had a size advantage, but that's about it. These kids play hard and the wins will come. I was very impressed with the Athens running back. Very good football vision. Hopefully the two Athens players that were hurt are okay as well as Caudill and Ousley for VC. Caudill left the game in the second quarter and Ousley looked to have hurt his hand/finger in the 3rd. Good luck to Athens the rest of the way and represent the TVC well in the playoffs!

Your right Papaw. These kids are stronger faster and are buying into their Coach's system. Change is not what they need, stability is! If we change coaches every 3 yrs. then a class will always experience change. No Stability. No Coach could have coached VC to a win over Athens (this year). Not Queen Not Orourke Not Bill Parcells. And definatly not this clown! And that isnt a slamm on Our kids. That is reality Due to the Vikes inexperience and youth. This group of kids are winners and wins are coming soon. They believe the can win and fight hard every game. And they are gaining more knowledge and experience each game. Give this coach 2 more years with this group and the upcoming classes, and watch out. Here come The Vikes!

In the 4 years under our previous coach, numbers went down each and ever year. The wins did the same. With Coach B, numbers have gone up each year, and the wins will do the same starting next year and beyond. It says alot about the coaches we have that our numbers have gone up even with little success. I think Burleson deserves at least one more year.
