burg gave up over 400 yards to a 1-6 waverly team. they are not better than their record shows. they are 1-6.

burgs defense will be the difference in this one, not eddie miller. give up 400 to minford and burg is a loser.

After watching them both play, Burg is by far the more superior team here. They fly to the ball on defense and come at you from all angles on offense, with a great athlete at QB and a nice supporting cast. I seen them straight take it to a good Jackson team a few weeks back. Minford on the other hand has a few good athletes who can make some plays in the open field when given the chance, but the QB play is where I think the problem will be. Yeah, the passing game has looked ok the past few weeks against the two worst secondary’s around, but what they are facing this week is nowhere close in comparison. This week they are about to face one of the best defenses in southern ohio and if not the best secondary. I wish them luck on this difficult task, but just don’t think there will be enough magic in the air to pull of the win at Burg, which is a difficult task to do in it self :122245
Wheelersburg gave up 407 yds defensevly against Waverly and two TDs via passing . ??????? Is Waverly that good @ 1-6 ???????? just currious. I know Minford has a target on their back being 7-0, just like Valley , & IMHO if they do not fall prey to " Burg-itis" (over-hyping) the game I feel alot of people may be suprised, I hope they take week 8 for what it is, not the pinnacle of the season. Good luck to both teams and hoping for an injury free game
the same thing happen last yr. waverly came in 1-5 and gave burg a good game losing 34-14. they are better than their record shows
I think Waverly is that good. I said in another thread they will win their 2 of their last 3 and have the potential to win all 3. Waverly has lost to some very good teams and have had a tough schedule. The only team they have lost to that isnt in the top 5 in their respective region is Jackson. Everyone else that has defeated them is in the playoff hunt. They are a much better team than their record shows. A pretender will not beat them.

You all are making it sound like Burg is bionic, incredible this year and unbeatable. Didn't the Grove come real close to beating them? I take Minford by 14 pts.

Wow. 14pts? Are you serious? That would be a shock. I don't think they are unbeatable but I believe they are a very dangerous team who can score quickly and on any play. I'll take Burg in this one. If Minford wins, it will be close, not 14 points. And anyone that plays Coal Grove at the Grove know they get a lot of help there from officials. Don't know why but that always get a huge home field advantage. A win there by any score is a huge feat.

Minford barely beat piketon and burg would crush them

None of those stats matter. What matters is this Friday. Good Luck Minford.

Burg is definitely beatable. I think Minford matches up with them better than anyone they have played since Ironton. Moving the sticks and keeping Burgs offense on the sideline along with capitalizing on Burg mistakes will be the key for Minford to win.

I agree with you 100% Bleeding Red. But like someone said earlier. Easier said then done. This is a very exciting time in the SOC 2. We have 3 very, very good teams. Or at least it seems that way right now. Should be an exciting end to conference play. We are all very blessed to be able to watch the last 3 weeks unfold in southern ohio. It will be a battle. Whoever wins the gold football this year will have definetly earned it.

The 2010 game was different because Wheelersburg had lost to Minford the year before in a game they had opportunities to win and then they had to listen to the Minford players and fans for 365 days prior to the game before they could do anything about it.
Result: Burg 42-12. Wheelersburg isn't coming off a loss this year but I'll take the Burg in this one also.

I agree, give Minford 400 yds they win, and another interesting thought, Minford is only giving up an average of 11.5 pts per game, Gosh maybe the Falcons have a defense. Just thinking aloud ????????

Don't want to break up a good topic but, I was reading the Pirate program today looking for something, anyway, I noticed that the Burg has not had a losing regular season since 1965, how many of you were alive in 1965. The only losing season was 2000 when they lost a first round playoff game to go 5 and 6. I would like to know how many schools could top this achivement. Just saying.

I'll take the bait , I figure somewhere between 17 and 24 points will be a final score, who has the most points will be the team that makes less mistakes ie; fumbles, penalties, ect,

24 ?????
17 ?????

Wow! That is very impressive! That is what you call a program! And take a look at this too! The different head coaches since that time have been able to maintain that steak! Somebody has been making the right decision at Burrg to keep attracting the right head coach. And, not just in football but, usually in every sport girls and boys! What's the secret formula? I can only imagine what would have happened if East would have given Andy Hall the head coaching position instead of Larry! If they would have stayed at East?

Everybody will have a good idea where this game is headed after the 1st qtr... If minford strikes quick and punches burg in the mouth this will be a tight game... Minford has good team speed an I think alot of ppl are unaware of this... Main 2 keys will be stopping Eddie miller and being consistent on offense for the falcons.. Gotta keep the chains moving all night
