week 8: west @ waverly
week 8: west @ waverly
Thoughts? I seem to think this one will be a dandy in going with waverly in a close one
Re: week 8: west @ waverly
I honestly think west won't even be close to the tigers at the end of this one

After playing both. West has the much better defense but Waverly has the better offense. This will be a great game. Team with fewest mistakes wins.

I'll take West in this one. Waverly is 1-6 for a reason. But I think it will be a close game either way since its at Waverly.

Also going with Waverly to win in a shootout. Waverly should have a hay day throwing the ball! Dink and dunk them to death and then hit them with the deep ball. Waverly will probably not be able to stop the run game of West, so the West offense should look great in this one....

Lets see, you claim to be from Waverly. Yet you can't say enough good about the Waverly Tigers and never down the program. But every chance you get you down EVERYTHING about West, poke fun, laugh, and otherwise disrespect the entire program.

Re: week 8: west @ waverly
This game could go either way, I would like to say waverly by 7 but west will score on our defense if we play 12 yards off their recievers burg screened us to death. Our kickoff team needs a change too many kids out there that can't tackle. We need to win these last three games.
Re: week 8: west @ waverly
Waverly and Wheelersburg are passing teams. The way our pass defense is, I can't see any hope in defending them. This 5-2 we're playing just invites the passing game. I don't know about Waverly, but Burg will go 4 wide making one on ones all-over the field. You can't expect a bunch of underclassmen DB's to hold up in man to man coverage. One missed tackle and it's a TD. You have no help and you can't expect to get pressure every down, especially if you don't play gaps or games. Which we don't do.
We need to go 4-3 or 4-2-5 and we have the personel to run it. Scott at strong side end, Howell at Week. Bennett as 5 technique tackle and the other Howell as the 3 technique. Morgan as SAM linebacker, Davis at MIKE, and Meeker at WILL. Keep your DB's the same. Move Meeker around to take advantage of his pass rushing ability. Keeping him at Right end all the time, teams just slide their protection to him. Our vanilla system is too easy for good offenses to game plan against.
On long passing situatations, bring Hurd on the field as nickle back and bring Meeker back to end.
5-2 lovers will say we do that now, just drop meeker from end. But we never do that. The 4-3 is light years ahead of the 1950's 5-2. It's much easier to transition from a 4-3 to a 5-2, than vise versa.

Re: week 8: west @ waverly
I think Waverly is better than everyone thinks. I said in another thread they will win their 2 of their last 3 and have the potential to win all 3. Waverly has lost to some very good teams and have had a tough schedule. The only team they have lost to that isnt in the top 10 in their respective region is Jackson. Everyone else that has defeated them is in the playoff hunt. They are a much better team than their record shows. A pretender will not beat them. The opponents they have lost to have a combined record of 35-7. This is why they are 1-6.Bleeding Red wrote:I'll take West in this one. Waverly is 1-6 for a reason. I have family from West, but disagree with about everything they do football wise, so it makes it easy to pick on them, especially when they're suppose to be so great! All I heard all pre-season is how great they are LOL

Thats the best you can do?smh. Yea, pick on a bunch of players and coaches that havnt bragged to anyone and have worked hard? That shows the kind of person you are. You make fun of a team that isnt used to losing much, but you are ok with Waverly and their choices, seeing how they have torn it up the last few years! Yea right. You my friend, are just a horses a... Tell us some more lies
Moving on,
Let's hope West plays better in the secondary this week and week 10. West by 7.

Re: week 8: west @ waverly
Waverly's passing game was effective against Wheelersburg on a couple drives, including the one at the end of the half that ultimately resulted in a fumble. I don't if West has any kind of pass defense or not, but I think the key for any team is to get pressure on Bolin-Hitchens, if you give him he will pick the secondary apart. He has the skills if he has time to throw. Senior Night the kids will be ready wish I could be there, but I'll go with Tigers by a dozen 32-20.

Those are the scores of the last four games between the two. Waverly should probably be a little more concerned about their once proud program faltering, then West having a bad year.

Not that Irwin's not doing a good job at QB, but it seems that he's taken a beating that last couple of weeks. It would be nice to see Luke Morgan get a shot, he's proved himself to be a good QB thru last year how about give him a try?

It was the other way around before that. People from West or fans of West just can’t take criticism when it’s obviously due. Also, Dreamweaver....so your saying that none of them coaches or players thought they were gonna have a winning season or a good year for that matter, Playoffs like expected......? If not your more delusional than I thought. It’s West and the great players and talent they have had they expect to win and when it doesn’t happen then you have to point the finger somewhere. It seems your fans know the problem, a few have still yet to admit it. Now, all things aside...Waverly gets the Win and wouldn’t be shocked if it was by double digits especially if Waverly finds a way to stop the run game. I hear putting 8-9 in the box has worked pretty well this year

Re: week 8: west @ waverly
Irwin will be fine. The last two weeks he has face the best two defenses in the SOC2 in Minford and Valley. Its no surprise he's taken a beating. Waverlys Defense is not near as aggressive. But the Offense is good.WestSportsFan wrote:Not that Irwin's not doing a good job at QB, but it seems that he's taken a beating that last couple of weeks. Yeah I have no doubt that Irwin will be okay. My point was also that it doesn't hurt to have someone else prepared plus the fact that I guess I don't understand why Morgan wasn't given the chance. Although he doesn't have the speed he always seemed to be able to break loose for extra yards and he has one heck of a arm, him and Bricker work well together, just a thought.
