YTB, a lot of truth in that statement. For most years under Coach Lutz, the Fighting Tigers featured a combination of superior athletes, coaching, conditioning, and fundamentals than most SEO teams could muster. From what I have read over the last few years, Ironton is still a good football program. Maybe their quandary is that they have declined a bit while other SEO programs have caught up.

omega, you are right. they have been caught and the eye of the tiger doesn't shine as bright nowadays. it is good football. but not the type football fighting tiger fans are used to seeing, loafing, walking,cramping up, looking exhausted, personal fouls. the likes of which not seen previously, but that's all stuff that can be corrected. and has to be to play and compete like they used to.

You can teach multiple formations until the cows come home but you have to have the personnel to perform them. A good coach should know what he has coming in and decide which base formation will work best for them. Experimenting with formations is fine if you have the talent.

The key words being "a good coach". There isn't any at Ironton lol I am NOT messing with ya

If so, I'd like to nominate 1982 Ironton grad and current Olentangy Brave AD Jay Wolfe. He would be a great one to grab if he was interested. He would make one heck of a Basketball Coach too.

I agree but he either needs to be the basketball coach or the AD not both. I think there is an extreme conflict when you are the AD and the head coach of any sport girls or boys.

I agree, the AD and Basketball Coach should be two different people. Jay would be a great AD or Coach if the job comes open and if he was interested.

Word on the street is Dean was going to move the a.d. to the middle school to teach social studies. And that he would find another a.d.
I don't think this is final yet.

Ironton was 0 and 4. Greenup 1's, Burg 2s, and Racelands 2s all beat Irontons 1s. It wasn't pretty. Burg was playing their backup with the 1s so Burgs third team QB beat Irontons Varsity in 7 on 7.
