Week 9: Nelsonville-York (6-2, 3-0)@ Vinton County(1-7, 0-3)

Post by NYBuckeye96 »

The Buckeyes travel to McArthur to take on the Vinton County Vikings in Week 9 before the huge showdown with Athens in Week 10. This will be the 45th all-time meeting between the Buckeyes and Vikings and NY leads the series 36-8. NY has played Vinton County more times than any other school if you only count post-consolidation figures. Vinton County has been on the NY schedule every year since consolidation in 1967, however the 1973 game was cancelled due to the Vinton County Teachers Strike. Vinton County has not defeated NY since 1999. Only 1 of Vinton County's 8 wins was by more than one touchdown (1996 - 42-6). 4 of the 8 VC wins were by one-point. 1 two-point win, 1 three-point win, and 1 six-point win.

The Vikes young players are banged up in some key positions. But these kids have a lot of heart. They will make no excuses and come out fired up to play as hard as they can. The Viking Nation needs to get fired up and get behind Coach Burleson and send our Seniors out with a bang!!! Lets go Vikes!!!

NY Big, but same as Athens, don't look ahead and play hard. Thats when injuries can happen. Good luck to both teams and play hard.

Let's go BUCKEYES one game at a time let's take care of Vinton County before we think about Athens or the chance to make week 11.

Justis will get welcomed to that angry steam roller that is NY right now. Prolly wont be the type of vengeful beat down that Arnie received, but still a beating none the less. Bucks will roll, and the Vikes will get rolled.

N-Y will be too much for Vinton Co. to handle but IMO the Vikings are very much improved over the last few years despite the poor record. I look for N-Y to win by a fair margin but the Vikings will play hard all night.

Nelsonville should enjoy their last win in regular season play. They are A better team than Vinton Co.
