Week: 9 Athens (7-1)(3-0) @ Meigs (2-6)(1-2)
Athens will invade Pomeroy Friday night to battle a Meigs team that always seems to play well against Athens at home. Thoughts?

Athens needs to keep their focus going into a game like this, Meigs always plays Athens tough at home and if we start looking ahead to N-Y next week and all of the sudden we could be on our way home from Pomeroy with our tail tucked between our legs and licking our wounds.

Athens will win big. They just need to play like every game they have played in the past and not look a head to week 10. That is when someone can get hurt. Hope both teams play hard and keep the game injury free.

Good luck to both teams staying injury free.
Athens wins this game without problems Meigs is young and beat up with injuries right now, but I do believe Coach Bartrum will get this team back to winning games in the next few years a he gets them rebuilt.

Unless the new field at Meigs has great drainage, field conditions will be a factor in an Athens game for the first time this season. Stay focused, play hard, stay healthy Bulldogs.

Judging by the current weather outside and the radar map, weather and field conditions will most likely be a factor in this game. Muddy, wet, and windy conditions tend to favor the underdog especially at home, this one may be closer than a lot of people think.

I will be very surprised if Athens doesn't ring it up again tonight and win by about 46 points or so, regardless of the weather. Good luck to both teams!

Meigs seems to find a way to play well against us at home Steely, Athens lost there in 2008 and won like 33-28 our last time down in 2010. If the weather is poor and Meigs gets to stuff the box by not having to play the pass as much it will be a lot closer than 46.Steely Dan wrote:I will be very surprised if Athens doesn't ring it up again tonight and win by about 46 points or so, regardless of the weather. Re: Week: 9 Athens (7-1)(3-0) @ Meigs (2-6)(1-2)
Meigs came out fired up on Senior night and played really well they just weren't able to keep up the pace all night while Athens looked a bit flat at the start of the game. Athens led 6-0 at the end of the 1st quarter despite only running 4 offensive plays. Meigs took a 7-6 lead early in the second quarter then after the following Athens drive stalled deep in Meigs territory Athens answered with a defensive TD a few plays later finally the Bulldogs scored with just seconds left before the half to open up a 20-7 lead. After the half Athens took over early and pulled out to a 41-7 lead before Meigs scored midway through the 4th making the score 41-14, finally Athens ended the scoring with a long TD run on the next play from scrimmage making the final 47-14. On a side note, I'm not usually one to comment about officiating especially when the score is as it was but in the 2nd half this crew was laughable.
