About time to see Logan Elm and Vinton County play in the regular season. IMO should be a yearly thing.

I agree completely. This will only be the 3rd all time meeting between the two. Its kind of hard to believe. This will be the first meeting in the regular season, but will come on a neutral floor just like the other two meetings. Logan Elm holds a 2-0 advantage all time.

Really hoping that my Indians have to drop out of this. That would mean we are still playing football. :122245 :122245

Valley lost a lot of talent, but the kids we have coming back will be just fine. I look for Hayden Dunn to have a great junior season. Also, watch out for freshman Bryan Rolfe. The coaches' son is going to be a player.

Crab's brother!!! another GREAT FB season for Valley !!! - awesome stuff right there my friend ... hope they do have a deep run into the post season BUT I STILL want to get to see the Indians LOL ... what will be the "BIGS" factor for the VHS this season ? with last years team sporting a a first 7 of 6-3+ size wise , how are the BIGS going to stack up for Valley this season? ... again nothing but the best in the FB postseason ! and the committee of one - me - will understand the boyz coming straight from the football field to the gym floor like the did last season - BUT those kids were ALL athletes! they transitioned well in the early part of the bb season ...

... just got my 3 Napkin Stat scorebooks in the mail today !!! that will take me from the ZT TipOff Classic through the 3 Weeks of the Convo - I'm ready, psyched , pumped to tip this season off!!!!! ... I posted that I have the team pages for 74 teams that the committee of one - me - will be following/ranking this season ... I will work hard on getting the Elite 8, Treehuggers Wannabes, and the End Tables Teams ranked by Wedneday Nov 1st ... that will give everyone a month to agree to disagree on the rankings LOL ... we ALL know that the Preseason Rankings are only an initial starting point for teams to begin their seasons based on past performance ... as the weeks go on records are kept, scores kept, newspaper accounts of games read, the Ouija Board used exclusively to finalize all rankings - teams will move up, drop down the list based on performance on the court vs quality teams ... with the BIGGEST factor being what do the teams show ME when I see them in person around Southern/SouthEast Ohio ... it is ALWAYS a great time - looking forward to hitting the road for the 2012-13 Pfloyd Tour ...

The Shriners preview is usually good for a little 'inside peek' into what to expect during the season ... a good chance for teams to show YOU what they have Floyd ... lol

Its always good for at least one or two surprises ... like last year, Belpre wasn't even on my radar, I watched them at the preview - started taking notice ... and then whola - they win the Hocking by 2 games.

... absolutely 93dog ... if you go to the preview to see what a team is going to do all season - you'll be disappointed as teams usually play basic sets at both ends of the floor - not wanting to "tip their hand' BUT talent can't be held back - YOU can see the players who are "players" those who WILL make an impact ... can't hide size, handles, shooters, scorers either ... so as much as the Preview doesn't show you a lot as far as scouting goes it does tell ME a lot about the athleticism, size, speed, you can see if fundamentals are taught/coached .... personally I get a great deal out of watching the Preview ...

We are very excited for our football team. They have exceeded expectations and we are just along for the ride.

The hoops team won't be as big, but we will be long. Last year our guards (Yates and Keller) were big kids, but I don't know that we will be that big in the back court this season. As it stands right now, our entire varsity roster is on the football team. As far as I know most of these kids are playing basketball. Here are the kids and there sizes (using the football roster).

Will Howard 6'2" Senior
Jordan West 6'5'' Junior
Hayden Dunn 6'3" Junior
Zach Shope 5'9'' Junior
Chris Flowers 5'11'' Junior
Ethan Holbrook 6'1'' Junior
Dakota Baker 6' Junior
Kyle Miller 6'4'' Junior
Caleb Miller 6'4" Junior
Ryan Brown 6'2" Sophomore
Bryan Rolfe 6'2" Freshman

As you can see, we do have the potential to go fairly big.

... Crab's brother - I remember seeing the "BIGS" from Valley when they played in the ZT Tipoff last year vs Zane Trace - as I said last years Indians being the great group of athletes that they were could make the transition to the bb court because they were such quality athletes( If I'm not mistaken LVHS played at ZT only 1 week removed from the football field !) - THIS SEASON will be the same I'm sure, quality athletes can get it done on athleticism until their basketball legs, games catch up to them ... Hayden Dunn WILL BE a beast this season! he's a 6-3, 6-4 "player" ... last season having to be the "sixth player" in the rotation - this season he will be the "go to guy" ... when I watched Hayden Dunn vs Nelsonville and vs Portsmouth he had double figures scoring in both games (18, 10 points respectively) while being that "beast" inside - I'm a BIG fan of HD for sure ...

Along with the names previously mentioned.. keep your eyes out for a couple freshman that may get some playing time this winter. Also, I haven't heard anything lately on Smallwood. He was injured in the pre season and may not be back for the start of hoops.
With the schools proximity to one another, and the caliber of teams they normally field, it'd draw a pretty good crowd. I remember the game in I think 2005 or 2006 at the Katie when LE and VC played. Wasn't pretty. When was the other one?

The second game was just a couple of years ago in the sectional championship. LE won in a defensive battle 36-32. The 06 VC team was a little down compared to the norm.

That's right; I think it was at Logan's new gym. The game at ZT should be a great barometer for both teams going into the season.

Yea it was at the purple palace. This will be the first meeting outside of Logan. I agree, this should be a great game to see where these two stack up early on. You never know, this could be a preview of a district semi/final game! Hopefully anyways! :)

We may have a rough time with two key players out. Like the match up early on. Will give all us fans a good idea where we are at.
