Notre Dame 42
East 22

Justin Crager had 45 carries for 310 yards and 3 TD's. My guess is that if Crager wasn't there East may not have won a game this year. I can't believe how much this young man has had strapped to his back this season. Also, O-line... fans and mainly Mr. Crager should definetly be proud of your performances this season also. Of course no back has that great of numbers without some help from the warriors in the trenches!

East last legit 2,000 yard rusher was Morris Gullion. He rushed for over 2,400 or 2,500 yards! Of course they played Ironton, West, Portsmouth and other teams! Back then they did so much pair the weak with the weak and so for!

Arthur Henderson came close of course that would have been Sciotoville Community School era! Gullion is probably one of the best football players to ever come out of East! Of course most people only consider the skilled positions when giving consideration for these types of accolades.

Both teams played their hearts out and put it all on the line. If the Tartans wouldn't had made a couple of errors in this one, we could have been looking at a possible overtime battle. Crager did an excellent job leading his team tonight and the brown jersey at the end of the game proves it. A lot of this Tartan team that played tonight are very young with only 3 starting seniors on both sides of the ball. Looking forward to East having a good off season in preparation for next year. I think you could be seeing Stiltner as a sophmore next year at starting QB. Haddox will be back as a sophmore in the backfield and Bradford will be a senior. The O-Line has size and will be sophmores/juniors next season. A lot of potential there to have a great overall team next year.

Good job Titans!! Nice win and Crager is a great running back...his legs never stopped moving as he hit the line. ND had more overall speed on offense tonight with some long runs of their own....D.Smith had a great season as well. Let's get healthy and enjoy that new gym floor!!

Great way to end the season! Thanks to the 4 seniors for their play, leadership and character. You are the 4 newest football alumni -- follow tradition and pass along the torch and continue to support your ND family next year. Those of you playing basketball --- please take a rest and go after the round ball with the same determination you exhibited with the pigskin.

In 1961, Gullion's senior year, East was undeafted and only had 6 points scored on them the whole season. The lone TD was scored by Notre Dame's Bill Shaffer and he barely made it into the corner of the end zone.

Not sure if anybody remembers the 1987 Notre Dame "Dawg Defense", that went unscored upon during the reg. season. Their season ended when they lost to Newark Catholic 3-0 in their 2nd playoff game I believe. Only giving up 3 points in an entire season has to be some kind of record!
