Re: Place you always dreamed of going
A tour of Europe would be nice. The one place I've been and would like to explore more closely is the Philippines. Aside from the nutcases in Mindanao, I haven't been to a more friendly country. An extremely poor country but very generous in so many other ways.

Never been to the Pacific and beyond. Always heard that many of those countries contain beautiful scenery.
Re: Place you always dreamed of going
My IRA has come back and come back strong........We had not opened our statement for the last two years.......We opened one the other day, and YES!!........I retire in two more yrs, and my wife and I are going to Scotland for a month.......We are going to rent a house around the middle of the country in a little small burg, and rent a car........We want to live like the locals............We are going to go to Ireland for a couple of days...And then we are going to take a short trip , maybe 4 or 5 days through Scandanavia and go to St.Petersburg.....Then travel by train back through Poland and Germany and France.....I have had a few exchange students from Germany come through our school and I am going to stop and visit one for a couple of days with his family..........Found a website couchsurfing.org, and it hooks you up with people all over the world who help you in designing your once in a lifetime trip.....They can tell you where to stay and where the locals eat..They keep you away from the tourist crap..........Be a traveler not a tourist.........Can not wait..........Now if the good Lord above, and his Dad
, keep me around for awhile, this is going to be great............ :12224

I have saw some beautiful pics of both Scotland and Ireland. I would imagine Scandanavia is beautiful also. Of course the Alps would be a must see and maybe even the Urals. I never get enough of mountain scenery....

Israel is very interesting and worth while. I just had a hard time with all the armed soldiers and check-points and so forth. For a place sacred to everyone, it's pretty evident that following the rules of the God to whom it is sacred is not so sacred of a past time. It shows into sharp contrast what God wanted and what warped nonsense we've tried to pin on Him and call His will.
Israel ultimately made me very sad.

I agree, don't be a tourist. The real jewels of a society are outside the normal roads tourist travel and belong to the everyday folks trying to make it in life. The avg folks on Earth are only separated by language. Families, goals and ambitions are very similar across the board, in my experiences.

I would love to see Chichen Itza and a few other Mayan ruins. I think it would be so cool to tour these ancient civilizations.
My second choice would be a trip to Ireland.

I was there for a few weeks in 83 and again for a few weeks in 84 but spent most of my time near the Golon Heights. Would love to visit Jerusalem.
Would also like to visit Scotland and Wales

Mrs. Focused and I have always wanted to go to Hawaii, but at our age and physical problems, we probably won't make it.. Israel was one of the most exciting places I've been to.. New England states is a good choice for us to visit also..
