Fort Frye Cadets

Fort Frye has a lot of girls who can finish or score in certain situations. I won't have many opportunities to see them play this year, but I'd love to see them develop more than a couple of players who generate the opportunities for everyone else. What I saw last year was that, when teams were able to close down on Combs and Buchannan, the rest of the girls really struggled to create their own offense. They play fundamentally well enough to keep those games close until their leaders can get free, but they have enough talent to develop another leader or two over the course of the year.

Total team effort by Lady Cadets again tonight. Seems like they value the assist just as much as their own points, lots of good ball movement looking for the open teammate.

Frontier made the cross county trip to the Fort tonight.

Cadets won 63-33

Scoring for FF went: 15,14,9,8,7,6,2,2.
Cadet junior PG had five threes, with four in the first period.
Again, lots of subbing to keep legs fresh, and valuable experience for the young players.

FF Jv's won 41-29

Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans came to The Fort this evening and the Cadets beat them 51-42.

Rosecrans have a very tall, and fast team with most of their points comming from inside the paint

Forgot to add Taylor Buchanan went over the 1000 point mark this evening, congrats to Taylor on this milestone.

Amazing when, night after night the Cadets have such balanced scoring.

Was a game of runs early as FF goes 7-0, then ZR goes 10 straight to lead 19-16, then FF runs off 10 in a row to lead 26-19. Then it settled down to neither team scoring more than 5 straight, and ZR never getting closer than 4(32-28), and never closer than 6 in the 4th(41-35, 43-37, 45-39, 48-42).

Until ZR had to start fouling in the 4th, each team had 8 fouls(5 each in the first half), after that all 8 fouls went against ZR. Thru 3 qtrs ZR was 4/4 on FT(7/7 in the game), while FF was 3/4(11/19 in the game). Game was played in 70 minutes. Each team had 4 treys(ZR by 2 players, FF by 3). Five players scored for ZR(12,11,10,6,3)

Very good game to watch! Well played, well coached, well officiated.

Tough week ahead for the Lady Cadets, two long road trips, Monday up route seven to Haniball to take on the River Pilots.

Then over I-70 to Old Washington to meet up with Buckeye Trail on Wednesday

Then return home to the Fort to entertain Huntington St. Jo. Saturday evening. Hear the're very good, anyone out there seen them play? thoughts on the game?

River is actually pretty good. Fort Frye will have to play well to beat them. I'm glad to hear Fort Frye has a home game Saturday. I may actually get to see a game this year.
