Circleville will invade The Plains Saturday night to take on the host Bulldogs. Circleville got off to a great start this season but sputtered a bit down the stretch dropping their final 3 games while Athens has played well as of late and may be coming off of their best game yet last Friday night. If Athens can avoid turnovers and mental errors I believe they have a good shot at winning this game.

Athens is on an upward spiral, Circleville the opposite. Should be Athens game but take nothing for granted.

Looks like we'll be going up against another good running team with some 6'+ 250 and a couple 6'5 270 to 320 pound linemen. Reading some forum posts, it sounds like the Tigers defense has had difficulty with spread offenses.

Kickoff should be at 7.

Tigers have taken some lumps here down the stretch, but they made some positive strides against a good Canal team.

Athens needs to avoid feeling to good about themselves after beating Nelsonville-York, Circleville is without a doubt good enough to beat Athens if we lose focus for a minute this week.

Regardless of their late season losses - Circleville is a Division III playoff team - they will be as big, fast and good as any team Athens has faced all year.

This one will get ugly. The circle town has lost 4 games in a row and this one will be a blow out.

I know it was a scrimmage but I think Logan came out on top when they went at it.

With that being said i look for Athens to win by 14 or more

Why would you pull for a coach who left Wellston hanging? A coach who moved on to Marion Harding had 3 terrible seasons and got fired? A coach who came back to the area to coach Circleville to a 6-4 record with 3 straight losses and a low playoff seed 6th? I don't understand the loyalty. If anything you should be pulling for Athens to represent the TVC.

Sometimes even great coaches can't make situations better. Harding hasn't had close to a winning season since Heaths uncle Tim left in 2001. The big factor was they changed leagues and they had to travel over an hour and a half for every game. Also, they conssolidated the middle schools and made 3 teams into 1, went from 66 kids starting in 7th and 8th grade to 22. That kills your numbers.

I can name some pretty good coaches that have been non-renewed for various reasons, maybe you should know facts before you point out that he was fired for coaching 3 losing seasons.

You are bashing a coach who took a program that won 3 games last year and went 6-4? A low playoff seed? Thats idiotic at its finest. Many teams would love A PLAYOFF SEED. Oh btw, all 4 losses came to playoff teams.

Would Athens have been happy being a lowly 6th seed, you bet they would, lets not forget how hard it is to make the playoffs. Athens and Cville coaches and players should be honored not nitpicked for their insufficiencies.

I also think that a tougher schedule may actually hurt teams in some situations like this one for example. Cville is very beat up right now, played better against Canal last week because they got some kids back. Athens starters have played in the 4th quarter once in the past 6 weeks so they should be fresher.

Good game on Saturday though!

Pretty ignorant. What does going to Circleville and going 6-4 with a 6th seed have anything to do with a coach's loyalty?

Circleville had a great start, only losing to the Westfall Mustangs (many teams in SE Ohio would) in week 2. Then they dropped a game to Bloom Carrol in week 7, which was the springboard they used to have the opportunity to play in week 11. They lost 31-0 to rival Logan Elm, a win that we used to springboard into the playoffs, and then to the Mid State League Buckeye Division champion Canal Winchester, who is in DII and in the playoffs. Keep in mind, all four of Circleville's losses are to week 11 teams. They're going to be a tough draw for Athens, and I wouldn't be completely surprised to see them win it.
