Don't know how well the ironton 7th and 8th grade will end up doing but the ironton 6th grade is loaded. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the ironton 6th grade boys are probably the most talented group of athletes I've seen come through ironton at this age in 20 years. I'll be completely shocked if they lose a game.

They played some good competition last year in the class ahead of them...over the summer beat many 7th and 8th grade teams...however they did have one of their starters get a broken arm in football...and will be out a couple months...lucky for them they have strong backups...

Chillicothe has a very talented 8th grader who could see varsty time next year but will definately start on the JV team and with a good coach this year watch out for them...Vinton Co. Has 3 players that will see JV time next year....Miami Trace had a nice ball club last year and were really well coached was impressed with them last year and probably one of the better 7th grade clubs I watched last year.

ironton 7th grade is pretty good this year alot of speed and quickness run the court team with good shooters and ball handlers. they will be a solid group this season.ironton 8th grade is absolutely loaded. they have tramendous size for this age. martin 6 5" webb 6 4" davis 6 3" langdon 6 2" mcgraw 6 2" morris 6 3"they have exellant guard play by 2 6 0"guards in isaac and dutey they are about 15 deep and can all play they will not lose anything from the bench players. they have 7 or eight players over 6 0" they will do very well this season im sure coach lafon has a close eye on this group.

WOW!!! What are they feeding them in Ironton?? There are probably some HS coaches envious of that size. Be interesting to watch that group develop. Good luck on the season Ironton.

I heard that Portsmouth's 7th and 8th have scrimmaged several times.

The 7th grade has shown well against the talented 8th grade squad.

I understand that in 5 scrimmages that the 8th grade has won 3 and the 7th grade has won 2.

These are 2 very good teams coming up through the system.

////////////////////////

Kentucky Trojan's 7th grade team is now 2-1. Conkwright Middle defeated Estill County Middle 52-47 in OT last night. Estill County had previously defeated Conkwright last week by 8 after Estill led at halftime by 19.

Kentucky Trojan had 15 points in the win. He sunk 2 key FTs with 9 seconds left to ice the game with a 5 point lead.

They only won 1 out of the four periods that they played. They stayed close in the ones they lost, but for the most part it was their first scrimmage and first time coach that hasn't seen these boys play in the past to know what they are dominate at. They aren't very deep on the bench, but these starters are kids that dominate at full court pressing the whole game and going full speed on offense, They aren't a strong passing team and if they pass the ball more than 3 times during a play, they will more than likely turn it over. They are usually a high scoring team and they put up 60 plus points many times last year and that was against some stiff competition in the State Tourney in Columbus. The period we won we of course went all out and ran the floor. We will be in Logan on Friday and hopefully the Coach recognized their strengths during the last scrimmage.

Does anyone have schedules for the 6th. 7th, and 8th grades?
It would be great to go and see what I-town has in store for years to come.

Vinton County 8th grade defeated both Peebles and Piketon in their scrimmage. All quarters against Peebles were very competitive. VC pretty much TKO'd Piketon. Good luck to all 3 teams this season.
