THEN THAT IS SAD BREW, AND SHOULD NEVER BE TOLERATED. I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE INVOLVED, THAT IS NOT THE NORM FOR 99.9 PERCENT OF THE TIGER FAN BASE, AND THAT IS WHY WE ENJOY SUCH FUN , WITH OTHER TEM'S FANS WHEN WE TRAVEL.
KID'S TODAY ARE NOT GETTING THE DISCIPLINE THEY SHOULD IN MANY HOMES. IN MY DAY POPS IN IRONTON WOULD HAVE BELTED YA FOR THAT.

YTB....I know it is not the"norm" for Ironton Fans to act like this....to bad a "few" "fans" have to ruin it for some good people. Thanks for letting me know that some I-town peolpe do not approve of this behavior. GOOD LUCK to the Tigers the rest of the Playoffs....
BY the way, we arrived in I-town about 3:00pm on Friday, stopped by the END ZONE and had a couple of "pops"...enjoyed the company in there, very nice people. Enjoyed talkng to the I-town folks.
Then went to T-gate about 4:30. Parked at OU parking lot and AGAIN had an enjoyable time talking to the I-Town folks there...Anyway....GOOD LUCK.

A friend and I got to the game about 20 minutes before it started and, noticing the sparse crowd on the visitor side, sat on the end of the bleachers nearest the scoreboard. I was not really openly "rooting" for the Tigers, but I did laugh and cheer and had a great time considering the lousy weather conditions. Had I known that the Ironton side was going to be as empty as it was, I might have considered sitting on that side, but I never like sitting over there because of the reserved seating right in the middle of the stands.
Yes, I did notice that there were Ironton fans sitting on the visitors' side. I did not hear anyone complaining. Neither set of fans said anything derogatory around me and some were actually talking and laughing with each other. I don't blame the Ironton fans for sitting on the opposing side when the crowd is thin; there's a better chance of getting a good seat in between the 30 yard lines and the overwhelming majority of the fans are polite. I have been to 3 Ironton home games this year and at every game, I've seen Ironton/Lawrence County-area fans on the opposing side.

The person that witnessed this behavior, if in fact it happened as portrayed, seemed to think it was a big deal. If it was that big of a deal it should have been reported to authorities. There are several deputy sheriffs at every event and they are not hard to find. I can understand this person willingness to shed some of it off in fear of missing their son's final game. But its hard to make a big deal out of something that wasnt bad enough for someone to get the authorities involved IMO. If it was that serious, it should have been reported then and not now. They wouldnt have missed a thing if they went to authorities at halftime and made them aware and had the fans in question observed the second half. It happens all the time.

Every school has a few bad apples that tarnish their own fan's reputation. These people tend to come out on the bandwagon or in the playoffs, not during the regular games. I have attended quite a few games at the Tank in the past 5 years and I have never heard fans yelling at players or making derogatory remarks toward players or cheerleaders and I have sat on both sides of the field.

Its also easier to make statements like this after your team has lost a big game.

Just my 2 cents.

Hey YTB and Brew, I wrote a reply to that comment on the Ironton Tribune website also apologizing. I copied the comment over here to draw attention to the complaint [Irontonians who get the "paper" might not have looked at the online edition] by some in position to say something to the student body.
That kind of rudeness on the part of fans is just so beneath the effort put forth by a bunch of dedicated players. WE ARE IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER FANS - LETS SHOW A LITTLE CLASS AND ACT LIKE WE'VE BEEN THERE BEFORE - IN FACT MORE THAN ALL BUT 2 OTHER TEAMS IN THE STATE. SHOW OUR TIGER STRIPES WITH PRIDE, NOT RUDENESS!!! I'm old, lame, and can't attend, and this makes me ill.

I was sitting on the visiting side and enjoyed a great conversation with people from BC and from Liberty Union. Something did indeed go on, I saw a BC fan step down out of the bleachers and say something to someone along the rail. I'm not sure what was said, but it was confrontational and and some mouthing went back and forth, but it ended rather quickly.

I do not recall that person having any Ironton stuff on and I thought that it was two BC fans. Anyway, the offending person didn't appear to be the brightest individual.

From my perspective, I never heard anyone making bad remarks. But I too would like to apologize to BC fans if they had a bad experience. If I had known that was going on, I would have definately done something!!

I done some investigating and found out the true story. My buddy was sitting two rows back from the entire incident. An older Ironton fan was complaining about the calls and a young kid yelled back at him to shut up. The man replied some thing about blondie and then the Bloom Carroll students began to escalate the situation and of course the old men yelled back. The situation was defused and later the Bloom Carroll students began to turn around and yell back at the Ironton fans starting it up again. So basically it was both sides yelling at each other with the Bloom Carroll fans doing most of the yelling and trying to start a fight with the Ironton fans. So if anybody is owed an apology it is us the Ironton fans.
