Hall kid from Johnson Central might be out with ankle this weekend. setting out the prior game this week for sure . PHS might catch a break .

The Trojans not only started a freshman (Allison) and sophomore (Oliver), but another freshman (Delotell) and sophomore (Dickerson) were 2 of the 3 kids that came off the bench. The other sub was Isaiah Lisath, who is a junior, who played well against Wheelersburg. Pretty remarkable that the Trojans went toe-to-toe with the Fighting Tigers with 4 of 8 players either freshmen or sophomores.

I predicted 15-7 before the season started.......obviously, I'm going to be wrong on that, but it was the optimist in me.......
We can slice it up anyway we want, but the truth be told that this is a year in which the kids are getting accustomed to varsity basketball, and having only 1 player back with varsity experience is showing. Coach Collins has tried various starting lineups, and different rotations. Still, the Trojans have shown good things at times, and at other times have shown some things not so good, which is typical of a team trying to develop a chemistry.
The Trojans have had some poor shooting nights, and at times have not gotten back on defense. At other times, as in the Ironton game, they played a quality game vs. a quality opponent. Turnovers at times have really hurt the Trojans. PHS is 3-6, but have lost 2 games by 2 points. The Brookhaven game showed that the Bearcats are BY FAR the best team on Portsmouth's schedule this year.......hopefully the kids will take from this game that taking care of the ball is essential to give yourself any chance to win.
Overall, I am pretty happy with what I have seen.......I have to remember that in the very last game vs. Brookhaven, we started a freshman, two sophomores, and a junior. Trojandave, I have posted that we need to get back on transitional defense better and that Carter needs to become the leader on the team. He needs to prove that he is willing to accept this role by getting back on defense every play.
