GAHS FOOTBALL 2013
Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2013
I'll be the first to say that I didn't always agree with Coach Eddy from an X's and O's standpoint. However, I feel as if he did an awsome job being an administrator of the program. His program was relatively drama free and the boys were led down the path of becoming fine young men for the most part. He made a big difference in my son's life, both on and off the field.
The biggest thing we need to avoid is hiring someone from the "good ol days" crowd that will bring a bunch of drama with them. That doesn't mean that the new coach can't be a Gallia County person, but we need someone who is going to continue Coach Eddy's excellence in the above regardless of whether or not the schemes change.

I agree. You never know who will apply from the outside.GalliaGrad78 wrote:I doubt that there will be a limit. I think it will be a wide-open process.

Would not be surprised to see 40 applicants from 6-7 states if this position is opened up to the outside. GA program well respected, solid community support, proven record with history of respectable athletes. Be huge interest I would think.

I thought this was Niday's last year of coaching softball....maybe he would make a gridiron return?

Below is a copy of when 4 years ago Jackson opened the process up after internal candidates had applied.
28 people have officially applied
13 individuals have applied from 9 states other than Ohio
Mississippi - 2
Tennessee - 3
West Virginia - 2
North Carolina
Indiana
Kansas
New Jersey
Georgia
Texas
The other 15 are from different places in Ohio and one "international" candidate from Nova Scotia.

That is awesome! However, Gallia Academy does NOT have the facilities that Jackson has. Does anyone think that this would have any bearing on whether a person would apply or not?

GA may not have the facilities yet, but aren't they in process? And even if not...what you do have is a reputation for being excellent on a very consistent basis, great support, always very competitive athletes. So any outsider that does their homework will realize that, pretty sure there would be a good amount of interest if the administration takes it to the outside.

I hear that a coach who interviewed last time is a leading candidate after having since put a couple of nice lines on his resume.

Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2013
I just hope they hire who is the best fit no matter where he comes from. The risk of going outside involves a situation like Coach Eddy. He has every right to leave and should do whatever is best for him in his family. My point here is you run the risk of getting someone who has ties to other places. As I said, I don't fault Coach Eddy at all. I'm just saying that by going outside again, it might be a hire that stays less than five years.

I think who they end up hiring will be a surprise but not shocking.
