Trojan would you agree that when Bush had his wars he should have at least raised taxes to support them, instead he cut them? First time in this country's history that happened and hopefully future presidents will use it as a good history lesson.

Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush II and Obama should have paid for their world ventures. All either engaged in global conflict or carried/expanded on inherited conflict without paying for their decisions. We would be less likely to enter in other's backyards if the American people must pay, in the form of immediate taxes. Any idiot can give a go order without consequence. In the aftermath of 9/11, most Americans would have gladly paid a few extra dollars to lay waste to the Taliban and al qaeda. Not so much for Iraq.

Didn't Bush 1 raise taxes? I remember he got in trouble for the infamous "read my lips no new taxes" but I agree with you if people knew their taxes were going up to fund them they would think twice before supporting them, and a draft would really stir them up!

Re: The National Debt must be decreased now!
The number of individuals collecting disability benefits has hit a record high 8,827,795, according to new figures released from the Social Security Administration. On average, beneficiaries receive a $1,130.34 monthly check.
The explosion of individuals now applying for federal disability means applications are being awarded without proper vetting. A congressional report examining a sample of 300 cases found that over a quarter of them “failed to properly address insufficient, contradictory or incomplete evidence.â€
In October, a West Virginia man was sentenced to spend two years in jail for having fraudulently received over $265,000 in disability checks. And this month, the New York Times reported that Appalachian hill country parents are pulling their children out of literacy programs to bag $689 monthly Supplemental Security Income (SSI) checks. The taxpayer-funded payments continue until the child is 18, when two-thirds are transitioned into SSI for disabled adults.
Data also reveal that in the 2012 fiscal year, Social Security ran a $47.8 billion deficit.
As Terence P. Jeffrey explains, 2009 was the last time Social Security ran a surplus: "In that year, Social Security’s revenues exceeded its benefit and overhead payments by $19.358 billion. In fiscal 2010, Social Security ran a $36.8 billion deficit; and, in fiscal 2011, it ran a $47.975 deficit."
A December 2011 White House report conceded that “workers on SSDI [Social Security Disability Insurance] rarely return to the labor force.â€

The State Department has awarded First Thought Yoga of Arlington, Virginia, a $30,000 contract to administer yoga classes.
The State Department yoga program has received rave reviews, according to a testimonial on First Thought Yoga's website:
I am a State Dept. employee and am delighted to have the opportunity to join Anna each week for a yoga session. Afterward, I feel energized, yet relaxed, and ready to tackle the events of the afternoon. We had some interns in the office this summer and it was a pleasure to be able to introduce them to the energizing benefits of yoga during the day. Anna includes a unique and thoughtful reflection during each class that puts the crises of the day in perspective. I really appreciate the thought she puts into each and every varied session offered at the Dept. of State each week.
First Thought Yoga's Director Anna Tecson "received her primary teacher certification in the Sivananda tradition and her advanced training in therapeutic yoga and the Tantric traditions."
Ms. Tecson's website calendar states that State Department yoga classes are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

The thing I don't understand about that SSDI program the way I understand it is after you are awarded you are allowed to work as long as you don't make over 1000 a month,I thought the purpose in getting it was you couldn't work at all, that don't make no sense to me

I'd say it has something to do with getting the worker over the poverty level -- especially if that worker is the sole breadwinner for the family.

I can't get much better representation in Washington because I have 3 financial hawks!
My two senators from KY are Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul and my congressman is Andy Barr...
...they will fight tooth and nail for my beliefs...
Re: The National Debt must be decreased now!
LOL, ahh you won't need to buy a chute anyway,I have a feeling they will get something done at the last minute or just extend it longer and say well well get it some time down the road which does us no good at all

He did but it wasn't for the sole purpose of supporting Desert Shield/Storm.C-Bolt wrote:Didn't Bush 1 raise taxes?
