Foundation Game: Notre Dame @ Wheelersburg 11/27/12
Re: Foundation Game: Notre Dame @ Wheelersburg 11/27/12
I wouldn't put to much stock into this scrimage summer league games are not a true sign of what a team is made up of coaches don't run anything all summer till the season starts. I think both teams will do well this year.

Did you attend the game lightle04? If so then you would know that both teams pressed, both teams ran set plays and didn't just run up and down the court chucking up 3's. Both teams wanted to win and that includes the coaches. To not say this didn't mean something to both schools is ignorant. You honestly think Wheelersburg (The BURG) wanted to lose to Notre Dame, or ND didn't want to knock off an opponent that has amassed championship upon championship over the decades?

PJ Fitch put enough stock in it, to where he wanted to come scout along with about 6 other schools.lightle04 wrote:I wouldn't put to much stock into this scrimage summer league games are not a true sign of what a team is made up of coaches don't run anything all summer till the season starts. Come on dude it's a scrimage . And why wouldn't a school watch the season starts in a week . A scrimage and all summer league games are useless. The only thing they do is get kids used to game speed .i guarantee coach Mader didn't show crap as well as Barrick didn't show crap. ND ran nothing they will run this year . They won cause there just that good there big strong and a deep team. No one wants to play them.

This was a true game and make no mistake about it! All Wheelersburg programs(kids and community) go out to play hard to win -- they ALWAYS have and always will -- that is why they are successful. Tuesday night was no different - they played on their home floor in front of a packed home crowd against a smaller SOC I program.
ND has a good team this year that plays well together, plays smart and works hard --- the coaching staff does the same.
The ND community may get to enjoy a good year this year again and appreciate it. It is nice to see considering many tough years in the past --- though support was just as good............................
Best of luck to Wheelersburg this year. They will do nothing but improve because Barrick will see to it.

Re: Foundation Game: Notre Dame @ Wheelersburg 11/27/12
it wasnt just a scrimmage , and neither team held anything back. thats just the true facts of the matter .
Re: Foundation Game: Notre Dame @ Wheelersburg 11/27/12
I wasn't there so I was figguring nether team showed there. Hands in a scrimage game no body usually does in summer leagues and scrimaged because of other teams scouting. But you guys were there and if you say they ran there sets then they did. And in that case I'm glad Coach Fitch was there.
Re: Foundation Game: Notre Dame @ Wheelersburg 11/27/12
lightle04: So you're not at the game but knew they didn't show anything? I'm not gonna bag on you the whole time but this is just a few days before opening game for both squads, so not showing anything has come and gone. Both teams were not only playing for a cause, but also for bragging rights, respect, and the sheer fact of a chance to beat a good ball club both ways. I said said before, both teams pressed, ran numerous set plays and BOTH were out to win.
Re: Foundation Game: Notre Dame @ Wheelersburg 11/27/12
Just curious how deep into their benches both teams went.
Re: Foundation Game: Notre Dame @ Wheelersburg 11/27/12
By your reasoning then a couple days earlyer was previews did everyone show what they had ? No one did I'm not disrespecting any team I said ND was better doesn't matter if they ran there stuff or not . I'm just saying it would be very silly to run your sets in a game that has no rel meaning. This a summer league game to raise money. A scrimage that's it . Same importance as every other summer league game. That's just my opinion and it matters very little at all as well. Lol !! I have been around these foundation games for a few years now and every coach I have been around runs mostly a man falls back 2 a 2-3 and runs last seasons offensive sets so they don't give away anything. But like I said I hope. ND ran all there stuff so we could have a great scouting report on every thing they do without haveing to learn on the fly playing them. Makes game planning a heck of a lot easyer for an opposing coach if ND showed everything cause surfing the season you usally play on the same nights so scouting is hard.

As good as ND looked against Burg watch what they do to White Oak über he only runs about 20% of the same stuff. White Oaks in for a long night !!!

Norte dame may be in a up turn in talent right now and that's great, but that's been extraordinarily rare. They have had nothing to brag about for years. Now they can say they beat the "burg" this year. If you really think about it if Notre Dame was good at what they did they would recruit the best athletes from the county. Basically like it works on the cities. They have never been successful in this venture. So they get a decent team here or there. Good for those kids, but not really a power house program in place.eagles 89 wrote:People who thought Notre Dame didnt have a chance to win this game are clueless about basketball. I would say that most people who are aware of things would tell you that Notre Dame is the better team. Notre Dame has better athletes than the burg and they work harder in the weight room. The kids from the burg will compete and win some games, but they are not better than teams like they used to be. I would say that the burg will struggle to win half of their games while N.D. will probly share the league with Eastern and then it will be interesting to see what happens in D IV tourney. DIII tourney is loaded with talent, mainly Minford and Ironton. The Burg has a lot of work to do if they want to compete with other schools...and I dont just mean basketball. N.D. was the better, more physical, and tougher (both mentally and physically)
team........just deal with it.

Wrong. ND was at one time a force to be reckoned with in many sports. You have to go back quite a ways, but they were very good in the 80's and into the 90's. And they did snag kids from many school districts.

Most was before the 80's. but as I think back the Rolling Stones were good then too and I really liked my Walkman.

04, I dont think 5 days after thanksgiving is summer league. Also when you see players diving and sliding on the floor is more than a summer game. Just like someone said, the Burg comes to win everytime, they expect to win everytime. Burg will be ok and will get better.
