The paper is trying to do the best they can. The idea is that the only thing you see in the papers is scoring. People on here feel that players should be recognized for the other efforts of players other than scoring. The paper would not even have a way to do that.
Pol pot,
I do agree just because you are aggressive and lead the area in fouls, that anyone would look at that as a positive stat.

I agree, but the realitity of the situation is the paper business in America is dying a painful death. There is no money in that business and their staffing levels indicate that. In 10 years the Daily Times may not even exist in a print format.

What would you think about an overall shooting efficiency stat?

shooting efficiency = (FGM +0.5(TM + FTM))/(FGA +0.5(FTA))

for example: shooting efficiency for 20/50 on FG, 5 treys, and 9/12 on FT would be 48.2%

FGM -- field goals made
TM -- treys made
FTM -- free throws made
FGA -- field goals attempted
FTA -- free throws attempted
TO -- turnovers
REB -- rebounds

How about game efficiency factor:

game efficiency factor = (FGM +0.5(TM + FTM))/(FGA +0.5(FTA) + TO - REB)

defensive efficiency factor = opponent's game efficiency factor
