I would put Central up at the top of the league.

So a 6 point win at home vs Caldwell makes you the top team in the league?

I meant that they need to be mentioned up with the Rivers,Trials and Cadets.I think with Hurst coming back the zeps will start making some noise also.

Obviously you know nothing about basketball if you think the Zeps are going to "make noise" this year..

What happened to caldwell tonight? Also, heard shenandoah beat barnesville tonight, but that's not really a quality win considering Barnsville lost both Dornons and fitzpatrick.

We played for three quarters like we didn't want to be there, missed open look after open look and played very little defense. Just finished stats for the game after watching the game film. We were 1/16 from three point range through three quarters and trailed 43-21 two minutes in to the fourth. Shots started dropping and we applied some pressure in the fourth and twice had the ball down by three in the closing seconds but couldn't come all the way back. After scoring 21 points in three quarters we scored 40 in the fourth quarter. Our youngsters will learn to play four quarters, to this point we have played a solid game @ Central, two decent quarters to beat Frontier and 1 quarter tonight. Have to find some consistency. Some stats from the game tonight:

Caldwell 23/70 from the floor 7/28 from three point and 9/14 from the line
Beallsville 19/42 from the floor 6/15 from three point and 21/42 from the foul line

Both teams had 16 turnovers. Caldwell won the boards 35-31 for the game.

Individual statistics:
Caldwell scoring: Wiechman 34 points (12/18 shooting 1/1 from three point and 7/9 from the line)
Clark 9 points
Harding 8 points
Caldwell rebounding: Wiechman 13 boards (8 offensive)
Baker/Leasure 8 boards each

Caldwell assists: Wiechman 6

Caldwell steals: Wiechman 5

Beallsville individuals:
Scoring: Teryn Jarrett 21 points
Palmer 14 points
Nippert 12 points
Secrest 10 points

Rebounds: Secrest/Groves 8 each

Steals: Jarrett 3

Assists: Jarrett 3

On a side note, getting these youngsters to grow up is gonna make me old fast. Gotta love coaching. Would like to congratulate Casey Tolzda on his first varsity coaching win, unfortunately it came against us but I got my first win against his dad so I guess they owed us one. Good luck to all of the league teams the rest of the year.

The way this year is starting it wouldn't surprise me if the winner of the league has at least three losses this year.

Meadowbrook might not be overly skilled but they played Claymont tough Friday night and have good athletes from what I hear. It's early in the season, these teams will all improve a huge amount. Shenandoah will be competitive.

As for Caldwell, they had wide open looks all night but they couldn't buy a bucket. Kids are going to have to learn their roles if you ask me. Right now we have two and sometimes three offensive threats with Wiechman and Harding, the freshman Clark is getting better every game. The other kids need to learn to do their jobs, mostly playing defense and making layups. Hard to win against decent competition when only three of your seven know their role. Hoping that it's just being young and they figure it out soon.

News around here is that Caldwell's Johnathan Carpenter is out for the season, any truth to that? Heard a big story about something happening at the BT game.

I did hear something from a caldwell fan about an injury...possibly to a hand, that shouldn't have happened.
I'll let others expand on this if they wish since I only heard about this from someone.

Carpenter is done from what I gather for the rest of the season. He has a history of melting down but had been pretty controlled to this point. Not sure what was said but when he came off the floor near the end the other night he had some words with the coach and was sent to the showers early. Guess he punched a wall, not really surprised that the wall won.
Guess he has his hand in a cast and has to have surgery. My son said it was pretty nasty. He is one of two juniors in the rotation, we have no seniors, didn't think it was possible for us to get any younger but we just did. My son said coach has pulled Heller up from the reserve squad to be our seventh man. That gives us a junior, four sophomores and two freshmen on the varsity team. Unreal how young we are. Hope we keep getting better. I honestly have thought that we were better without Carpenter on the floor, he is a good athlete but his attitude and understanding weren't very good.
