Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
Thats no disrespect either because they do show bright spots and will be very good in years to come but most freshman arent even close to done growing when you have 17 and 18 year olds who are almost in their grown bodies it just puzzles me when they are on the bench but lets see how the end of the season goes but it doesn't look good for the Cavs to get out of the sectionals this year and that is almost a must at Chillicothe now.

Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
It seems as if there are many people from who I've talked to in the community that are disappointed in the people that run the school. Coach Kellough saved thousands of dollars for our school getting community support from local businesses etc. His program was well known throughout Ohio. How do you think Coach Meister heard about the Cavs? Yep, you guessed it thru Kellough's program. I'm sure he had his eye on many coaching jobs that came available with recent success. I hope I am wrong, but I guarantee Coach Meister won't be here long. Why not ask Coach K to come back? I heard he is enjoying retirement, but I know bball is in his blood. Chillicothe basketball is a complete mess right now and there is no one else to blame other than the former AD Veras, and the Superintendent!!! Kellough had an awesome staff and they're all gone! It is a shame, and it didn't take long to go back to the same old losing seasons that we have seen before kellough.

Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
Yeah I do not understand how this coach blew them away in the interview does not seem like that should have been the deciding factor but it is early maybe something drastic changes but with what we saw this year I hope change is on the horizon soon!
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
I speak to people around Ohio often and whenever High school b-ball comes up they have heard of Chilli's Cavs. The Cavs were respected as a result so was the school. Unfortunately people respect schools for their athletics first because that is all they see. They don't come in to observe a Science class, they come to a ball game. If your team is well-taught they give your school an A. (also the administrators, Super, principal, and AD get an A). Years ago adminstrators knew that, now not so much. Regardless, Cavs fans need to be there to support the kids who are playing their hearts out. Go Cavs.
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
I don't understand meisters coaching. Putting 2-3 subs in on what seems like every dead ball. They can't get any flow going because its sub sub sub. Kids playing on the varsity who should be playing jv ball. . Like I said before, this team is horrible. No defense. Can't make lay ups. It's a shame a program has gone from king of the hill to a team this bad. What's bad, other than warren, this league is horrendous . This coach will be gone very quick
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
16-9 at the end of the first half, Chilli leading. The biggest play of the night was Young's first 3. He seemed to relax then and so did Logan Elm. Final score LE 42-Chilli 31.Chilli never did get into a flow. Maybe Bronc 21 is right, if you are in and out so quick, even before you break a sweat, how do you get into a rhythm shooting?? Also not a lot of second chance points or even shots for Chilli. If that is the case, they better get more first shot attempts. Not going to beat many varsity teams scoring 31. Feel sorry for the kids and Meister, it is just a picture of frustration.

Cavs lose again! Bronc is right about the substitutions! These kids don't even break a sweat before they're removed from the game. I don't understand how some if these kids are playing varsity. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out this rotation doesn't work! Who is helping this coach? I'm not seeing a lot of experience on this coaching staff. If Coach Meister is smart he will figure out a way to get different coaches within the community to help him because as of right now I just don't see much of a supporting cast! I would also say be sure to put gravy teams on the schedule like Amanda etc, but they came in here a few weeks ago and beat us.
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
Its been a long time since I've posted anything and my biggest question is how did Canton South go from 6-15(might be off a couple games) Coach Meisters last year to 11-1 and ranked #5 DII? The reason being is because Coach Meister left! I have plenty more to say but I'll save it for another day...*sadcavsfan*

Geez....I'm biting my tongue! We have "some" talent...We have "some" athletes...We should be winning "some" games. That "game" was pathetic! That's all I want to say.

Or maybe they are reaping the benefits of the work he did last year implementing fundamentals and discipline? Just a thought.bvmv4life wrote:Its been a long time since I've posted anything and my biggest question is how did Canton South go from 6-15(might be off a couple games) Coach Meisters last year to 11-1 and ranked #5 DII? Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
If you saw Chilli play this year no way you would think that....bvmv4life is right and was that not his home town team? If he saw the talent coming back to be number 5 in the state why would he leave there...obviously they got a better coach or he is not very good at reading talent.
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
Get Zack Johnson the ball. It's really simple. I'm tired of hearing all the crap about straightening these kids up and it's full a bad attitudes. Play ball and quit coming up with excuses and promises of next year. Give Zack the ball!!!!!!!! Those freshmen don't have a clue.
Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
The only kids on this team that are ready for varsity basketball are Zach Johnson, Adam Bixler and Tim Beard. These three are varsity players, one reallly good and the other two good role players. Taylor is on the edge of being ready for varsity. Bolte, Wells, Harris, Harris, Rosenbauer, Vinson, Knisley would all make a very good J.V. team. Not a slight on them but they are just not ready. Benson should be on the Freshmen team and play some J.V. along with the other freshman that is playing some varsity I can't come up with that name.
These are all pretty good kids just not varsity basketball players. Keep working and they will get there in year or two.

Re: Chillicothe Cavaliers
I wouldn't say they are not varsity players, Taylor,Knisley and Bolte(5- 3's at portmouth) can shoot, I think the problem is they don't know when to shoot or not to shoot. That makes them less than they can be. Last year Jones hadn't played since the 8th grade, Elliott for two years, and Bixler had about 2 minutes of varsity experience. No one was questioning whether they were varsity players at this time last year. The way things are going, if the Cavs are taking 40 shots, Zach Johnson has to take 20 of them for them to have a chance. I feel the others lack confidence to be successful.

They don't know when to shoot because if they shoot and make or miss when Meister doesn't approve they're out. You can't play like that always worrying well I could shoot this but if I do will I come out then by that time are you going to make a shot definitely lowers your chances. And the way he subs you can never get into a rythm shooters need rythm how many times were their games j ragland would keep throwing them up even though he was missing but when one fell it was over because he was in RYTHM oh wait he had a good coach that knew what he was doing good players become bad players under lack luster coaching Zack is a great player but how many colleges are looking at him this year???? yea ZERO starts with the "coach"
