Re: Minford at South Webster
No "hater" here. McBee is one of the best in the area and Minford has a very gifted team. I said before the game Minford should win but I wouln't be suprised to see Webster upset them. I do agree with Falcon Fury that the community needs to suport the team. However, if you keep losing games when you obviously on paper have the "better team" questions will be asked. Congrats to the Jeeps on a geeat win!

Good win for the Jeeps though, you got to give them ALL the credit!

I guess you would like that steal at the end to drop it from like a 16 to 14 point loss. Congrats! Yea 2 losses in the league already, VERY GOOD TEAM!

Re: Minford at South Webster
All I can say is.. I've lived in South Webster my whole life. I played for their Basketball program, and now I work in the School District. I was completely disappointed by both teams. Especially, SW. Too much hot-doggin and show-boatin, and "Look at Me! I can drain a 3!". It was like helter skelter out there. The Jeeps did come out with the win, but I don't feel they earned it. No comment on the Falcons of Minford.

Falcon Fury wrote:Bleeding Red, Evidently you didn't read McCray's stats that I posted and you quoted...4 for 12 = 33%. Looks like Minford did get the ball to McCray and he like others couldn't find his shot. I saw many times when he kicked it back out (like you quoted you think he should do) for the guards to shoot it. Maybe that's why the guards have more shots put up than McCray. So I think the Falcons did exactly what you said they need to do, yet you're still complaining...go figure! Put some of that negative energy towards CHEERING YOUR TEAM ON!Bleeding Red wrote:Falcon Fury wrote:McCray 4 for 12 = 33%
McBee 10 for 21 = 48 %
Stapleton 2 for 8 = 25%
Gullion 0 for 9 = 0 %
Hard to be unstoppable with a shooting percentage such as this. Minford's in a shooting slump. Hopefully these kids will find their shot soon!
Thats what happens when you dribble around the 3 point line and chuck up shots. Again, they would not have any loses this year if they would just work the ball inside to McCray. He has great hands and can pass it back out if needed be for open shots.
Sorry Falcon Fury, I didnt mean to strike a nerve. I didnt know that asking questions about what they were trying to do offensively and defensively meant that I dont cheer the team on

I agree with you that for a short time they were feeding the ball down low to McCray. They did for a while in the first half and started doing it the second half. Then they went back away from him for long stints of the game. And no most of those missed shots outside were not from McCray kicking it back out. He did kick it out some, but he was having his way underneath getting to the rim for made shots or getting fouled.
I also agree with the shooting slump. They shot close to 32%. I would think that would mean pound the ball low more...no?
Your 4 for 12 stat is very deceiving for McCray. Many of those misses resulted in fouls and him going to the line. BTW, the big guy from SW guarding McCray had 4 fouls most of the 4th quarter yet they stopped feeding the ball into McCray to get the kid to foul out.
McCray getting the ball consistently (the entire game) would open alot of those jump shots up. The kid is quick, has good hands and can find open shooters.
Do you have an answer for them staying in a zone defense and not pressing when they were down by 4-6 points in the 3rd and 4th quarter? Why did they just allow SW to kill clock the entire second half?
Sorry, not trying to strike a nerve, but this basketball philosophy is a new one for me. Please help me understand since you seem to have answers that I am looking for

Re: Minford at South Webster
Everyone likes to set in the stands, watch basketball on ESPN, listen to sports analysts talk and think they have it all figured out as they reminisce on peewee victories from saturday mornings. It's not that easy folks, you really think this coaching staff cares or reads this garbage? Lol No. Anyone with any relative knowledge of the game of basketball KNOWS this staff emphasizes getting the ball into McCray, when shots don't fall, shots don't fall. Besides who wants to peak in December? Feb-march is the name of the game.

How long did it take you to come up with that brilliant comment, you had to exchange a C for the H. I see you are learning rhythm now. Congratulations.JuanMorales wrote:Coward? No his name is Howard I think. Plays for Minford.

Re: Minford at South Webster
Listen the kid from Burg Mclee McBee McFly whatever you call him call play ball probably best gaurd in the area. Plus the kid from Portsmouth seems to be a baller too, just give them sometime. Minford is just one player from another school like say the scarberry kid from Northwest away from being unstoppable. Falcons will hit a winning streak here soon need to quite fighting with each other.

Great game by South Webster. Actually made it out to watch this one. You can say Minford is in a slump but its hard to consistently make contested shots, no matter who ya are. Credit goes to South Websters defense. Good win for that program!

Bleeding Red, You didn't strike a nerve, I think our team needs more support from naysayers like yourself! And...you weren't asking any questions as you stated "Thats what happens when you dribble around the 3 point line and chuck up shots. Again, they would not have any loses this year if they would just work the ball inside to McCray. He has great hands and can pass it back out if needed be for open shots." I show up to support my Falcons, unlike you.
I bet once the Falcons pull it together you'll jump on the bandwagon. That's usually how the ball rolls with fair weather fans.

Re: Minford at South Webster
I'm gonna get bashed for this but the jeeps had quite a few "questionable calls" at Oak Hill + the kids from OH made it rain from 3 point land in the first half. Just my opinion but all of us know OH is a hostile place to play with Norm in your ear. I think next game the Jeeps will come out ahead by 15+jeep80 wrote:Or it could be that the Jeeps are way better than people expected coming into the year. (Would love to know what happened at Oak Hill)
I know they have been better than I expected.
Lets give the Jeeps credit for the win instead of the constant drone of excuses for Minford.
Great job Jeeps! Keep up the good work.
and while we all know McBee is a great player, I think the most overlooked player in the SOC is Goddard. A great point guard, passer, and right on par with McBee as far as shooting from any range. 28 points last night, 24 at green, 18? At oak hill I think?
