CD'S anyone else still listen to them?

Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

I do in the car and at home.

I do have a MP3 player that has a little over 1600 songs I use at work and the gym.

They're like vinyl. Keep them back in case you need MP3s off them.

I take the originals and buy cd-r and burn them to those. Never use my originals if i can keep from it. They all are stll like brand new. Still have a bunch with the wrapper on them. Sometimes when i bought cd's i would by two of the same album of my favorite bands.

Hang on to what you have and enjoy them. I listen to mine quite frequently, but I've almost completely digitized my CD collection, which will then go on an external hard drive, for safe keeping. I suggest that you check out the prices some of these CD's are commanding online now, especially the out-of-print stuff that is no longer available. The prices have skyrocketed, and I doubt will come back down. And the CD's, as previously stated, still sound "choice".

Steely Dan, that's a good idea. What size GB'S should i get/external hard drive for storing lots of music/cd albums?

You'd never fill up one about 350. I have a Terrabyte drive and I could store the Library of Congress on it!

Now I need to buy a turntable that converts vinyl to digital. Got about 400 albums in the closet.

I love the analogy that dazed & confused used, that is hilarious (but quite true). A Terrabyte is probably overkill, unless you are storing lots of video and other high density files. I'm going to go shopping post Christmas to check on prices. I know that the price on external hard drives has dropped significantly over the last couple of years, which is good for all of us! Merry Christmas everyone!

If you are going to get an external hard drive, you might as well get a 1 terabyte drive. That way you have plenty of room to add anything else you want to save. You can find them most anywhere for very close to the same price as the smaller sizes. I paid $69.00 for mine online through "Newegg".

I have close to 15,000 mp3s and they are also backed up on CDs. I can get about 200-230 (depending on the length of each song) on each 700 MB CD disk (each with a bitrate of 128 which is the appropriate rate.) At that rate, about 600-690 songs would be equal to 2 gigabytes

Thanks again Runner, i'll check into this also. Sounds like you have a bunch of music too.
