Wheelersburg defending state champs. Number 1 and 2 pitcher back should be solid.

Piketon will be solid as well expect good things. LH Farmer a D1 pick, think he has been offered by several schools.

Wheelersburg stands much higher than all the rest, great staff and solid group of kids each year

Gotta put Waverly on the list. Have been one of the most consistent winning programs in southern Ohio for quite awhile. Coach Noble runs a very good program and is a proven winner. '02 team won 21, '03 won 22 and '12-'08 teams won at least 18 games, won several sectional championships and won his 3rd District title in '09 setting the school record for wins at 24. On top of playing in a very tough S.O.C II conference that routinely puts out district, regional and occasional state winners. Also successful in getting players to the next level.

In the last 15 years, I am looking at programs that are consistent. They graduate "stars", but keep on winning. Tournament and league success are factors also.

if your new to the area and want to see the best the area has to offer pitch a tent on the 3rd base side at the wheelersburg baseball field and enjoy it in the spring, then when summer hits move the tent to the first base side of branch rickey stadium and watch the best of the best play for post 23 in portsmouth all summer long

With all due respect to Burg, I love their program and their success but there are other programs and players in the area. 23 has a good program but they don't win the district every year so they havent been dominant lately. You are correct to say that these two programs are a good place to start.

those are just the 2 teams in my immediate area that came to mind, there are other teams worth watching, but depending on a persons location there might be other teams closer worth driving to see. SE Ohio covers a lot of territory. outside of scioto county and the edges of neighboring counties start getting out of my range for teams to go watch play. its differant for others in other areas though...dang gas prices

Washington County has some great baseball in the spring with D2 warren and marietta and D3 fort frye. Then in the summer the kids come together to form Beverly/Lowell Post 389/750 Legion. B/L has won 4 straight District titles and won a state legion championship in '06 with a team that featured Tyler Engle, a four year starter at shortstop for OSU and a few other D1 college players. Todd Engle is a great coach and really works his team hard throughout the summer months.

A few years ago, Gallipolis had an unbeaten team and played the Burg on a weekend. The future Pirates won, 1-0.

On March 23, the Gallians will host the Pirates in a scrimmage. (Weather permitting). Can't believe the bad weather we've had in March since Groundhog Day.

There will be a whole showcase of games at V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe during the first week of the season in the First National Bank Classic.

Here's a link to an article that has the schedule of teams and tentative times.
