Re: Waverly Tigers Football 2013
Got to check out the first day of full contact with the orange and black scrimmage this morning. Can say I was pleasantly surprised, some nice looking kids. Waverly may be a year or two away but they looked pretty decent today. A new look and new attitude. Very impressed with some freshman, the future looks good and it starts with the present. Being in the SOC2 will always be tough so winning non league games will be important.
It all starts Friday, August 30 when the Streaks fizzle in the jungle. Go Tigers!

Good luck to both teams. Viking Nation will be paying close attention to this one. Since we play the Streaks week two.

I'm very excited to hear that Ramone Conley will be on Waverly's coaching staff. He is a tremendous person and will be a great addition to the staff.

28 freshman playing with more than 60 overall. How did the scrimmage go today?

We looked decent, scored 3 times against ZT first team they scored once. Running game looked good. Dray up the middle and Gilbert went outside on a few sweep plays, looked good; Taylor, Cydrus, and Chapman had some nice receptions. Need that first W against piketon to get started.

There will be a fish fry going on tomorrow night during the scrimmage.
Re: Waverly Tigers Football 2013
Waverly is going to be a work in progress and I think everyone knows that. Looked rough last night overall but there were some good moments. Starters lost 14-7 in 3 periods of play. To begin the season I don't think any freshman are going to be playing varsity (what I heard last night) and there are 28 freshman out this year. I do believe there are several JV and freshman games scheduled. The loss of Senior leader Eric Rinehart hurts a lot so some other guys are going to have to step it up. With the schedule the Tigers have, playing in the SOC2, a 5 win season would be a huge improvement and success. The group that eventually went undefeated pretty much started out the same way. The Waverly community needs to get behind these kids and coaches with full support, really nice crowd last night.
