4th annual Wellston Junior High Girls Tournament

yeah, i remember irontons 8th grade team last yr as 7th graders. they do play a physical game alot like symmes valley 8th grade played against us thurs. it is nice to get to play some different teams from other areas and see the difference in how the game is played.

Yea they were impressive but so was Alexander. Should be a good game when these 2 meet in the championship!

Not to be picky but waverly 8th beat wellston 8th(3 8th graders and 5 7th graders) for.3rd place 33-21. I think it was a lot closer then waverly was expecting. Wellston had only won 2 games coming in to the tournament..then won 2 and lost 2. Not too bad considering 7-8 mixed. They played hard all year long even though they were going to b out maned almost every game..they hustled and competed and didn't.give up in any game. Not making excuses for them losing or taking anything away from any of the teams that beat them they played some really good teams this year but I know I was proud of the effort I seen out of them all year.

Looked up info. My bad! Jr high can play in one post season tourney but can't exceed 4 games.

My mistake " rocket " I made the correction! Sounds like Wellston will have a solid 8th grade team next year!

congrats to the alexander 8th grade lady spartans on winning the wellston tournament. what a game by both teams. for those of you that were not there alex was up by 2 when ironton hits a shot with 2sec left in regulation to tie it up. alex inbounds ball and gets a good look at the end, off the front of the rim. in the OT it was back and fourth, alex hit foul shots down the stretch to prevail with a 4 pt win. again a great game between 2 good teams could have went either way but glad it turned out the way it did
