1-8-13...River Valley @ Chesapeake

Post by HoopsHotHead »

RV travels to Chesapeake to take on another OVC opponent.....

I look forward to watching the Raiders tomorrow night......although playing at Chesapeake is always difficult...I think the Raiders will be over-looked by the Panthers and could use this to their advantage.....

I predict that the Raiders will make a game of it because Chesapeake will be looking ahead.....

Good luck to the Raiders, Coach Hill and the rest if the staff....

Ive noticed that RV coach Jamie Graham is no longer on the sidelines and that Richard Stevens had taken his place....does anyone from the Raiders fan-base have any info on this change....im just wondering and basically being nosey....

GO RAIDERS!!!

The fans of the Raiders deserve to watch a better effort....both mentally and physically....we are tired of half-assed effort and all the mental mistakes(i.e. turnovers)

You can jump on the Panthers early and you might have a chance for the upset

Didnt make it....had practice at 7 for 5th and 6th girls....

Any stats.....any eye-witness opinions......wondering about turnovers and rebounding stats........

Doesnt sound like it was blowout.....51 is not bad for pts against.......36 is not going to win very many........

Good luck going forward Raiders.....

1 stat that stands out River Valley's first foul came with 4 minutes to go in game and only had 2 called the whole game.

How does that happen? Did Chesapeake not attack offensively?
Did you recognize the officials?

First time I had seen this crew not saying they were bad but to play a high school game with only 2 fouls is rare. The Peake had only 7 or 8 total.

10 total fouls or less combined is very rare. Looks like a low scoring game. If it was a slow paced game and the officials were "letting them play" I guess this could happen.

I bet it didn't take very long to play this game.

I've heard some ref friends of mine say "no one comes to see a free throw shooting contest". Did they teams play a lot of zone? Was there any pressing? Those may also play a factor into limited foul calling.

River Valley needs to work on turn overs. Game went quick with the low # fouls.

Scoring Stats:

Roberts: 15-he had a great game and seems to get better each week!
Loyd: 8
Twyman: 8
Gilmore: 3
Dovenbarger: 2

Some RV players did not even get any shots off.

2 players from RV with 1 foul each-Twyman & Dovenbarger

Overall good officiating-no questionable calls and let the boys play.

Heard from someone today who was at the game both teams played man defense. A lot of pressure on the ball. Some full court pressure. Few calls questioned by the coaches. Just a well played game by both teams. Saw the box score in Ironton Tribune. Chesapeake led by 4 at the half then outscored RV 17-4 in 3rd quarter to go up 38-21 after 3. Turnovers again killed RV.

4 point game at half......the CG game was a 1 point game at half......

seems like RV is coming out after halftime and either stop playing with 100% effort or not making any adjustments and getting killed in the second half......

Hopefully we can get two halves put together friday....

Go Raiders.....good luck to Coach Hill and staff and players this friday
