As long as you have been posting on here did you really think 2 SHL teams were not going to play ? Did White Oak deserve the #3 yes they won there league in the small schools SHL but then East would have had to play Fairfield who is very, very good . You knew what was going to happen. Maybe the team with the biggest beef could be Webster look at there schedual they have not one other D-4 in there league !!

I think so, having not seen either team play this year I would say they're pretty capable. I know Eastern has struggled with WhiteOak teams in district play having lost to them in 2000 and 2006. I do know this Eastern team has a much tougher road to the Regional this year than they did last year.

Re: Valley D-4 sectional
This sectional has become an easy one to predict. SOC I has guaranteed themselves at least one spot at Regionals, and if Eastern Pike can take care of business, a second team at Regionals. Until the sectionals pools are changed up or they go to a super Sectional, these kind of pairings will continue. Not as egregious this year with the SOC I being much improved, but everyone knew since December that the SHL schools and South Webster would be paired to eliminate each other to the benefit of SOC I. And can't blame them for doing it as SE District and OHSAA continues to allow it to happen.
BigShooter: have not seen either this year, but based on returning players and level of competition faced, Whiteoak and Fairfield can both compete with and beat Eastern Pike. With that being said, Eastern Pike is the favorite and will be the favorite in every game they play until Regional Finals, should they make it that far.*

Fairfield/Whiteoak/Webster have been paired a ton in the last five or six years. Super sectional is the answer!

No I have not...I watched Pike last year when they came to our place for the regional title game. I guess I should as this question is it true that 3 of the best teams are all in one bracket? IF thats the case then the other bracket is considerable more weak
1. Pike
2. SW
3. Fairfield
1. Pike
2. SW
3. Fairfield

I really am just clueless on how people can just forget about ND in this bracket...They destroyed Whiteoak in the regular season, Whiteoak beat Farfield, also SW lost to East, ND beat East twice. Not to mention they split with Eastern. I understand we all have our own opinions, but lets get serious here. I mean for once I believe Notre Dame has accomplished enough to earn a little respect from the community. I really hope and I'm almost sure that we will see an Eastern vs ND. Regional Semi-Finals rematch. I would love that. It would easily be one of the best if not the best game in the tournament in this area.

Top 4 teams in each section of the bracketBigShooter wrote:No I have not...I watched Pike last year when they came to our place for the regional title game. 1. Pike
2. SW
3. Fairfield
Upper: Notre Dame, Symmes Valley?, East?, Southern?
Lower: Eastern Pike, South Webster, Whiteoak, Fairfield.
You will see Notre Dame in the Regional coming out of the top side of the bracket, the bottom half is a total toss up. Eastern might be the favorite as most say but the road will be tough to say the least.

Weren't they #1 last year too? They are going to have to prove on the floor to get the respect they want.

SOCFAN - I believe Eastern will come out on top, I'm rooting for the Eagles to atleast. The only team I see them havin trouble with is SW. I agree on ND coming out on top as well. Should be a great year for the SOC1. As for Grinder - I believe a 16-3 record and the #1 seed is something to show proof. In all of the 20+ years of Titan Basketball I've watched this is truly the most talented, well coached basketball the school has ever seen. They'll get the job done I'm sure of it.

Also all this talk about the SHL schools may be a little extreme. Whiteoak didn't impress me at all when ND played them. I've never seen FF play but I heard Whiteoak beat them so I'm not sure. But we will find out soon enough. Goodluck to all the teams! GO TITANS!
Re: Valley D-4 sectional
I'm not knocking any team but the ND -White Oak game was first game of the season I think. There's been tons of time for teams to improve. And I saw Fairfield this summer I don't care what there record is they have scary good talent and can go a long way in D-4 . Notre Dame has the good draw to advance this year. I'm afraid Easten and Webster drew the tuff path. The kids have to focus. Valley sectional is stacked !!

Notre Dame has a great ball club this year and deserves the one seed, but lets not forget this was the first game of the year, on the road in a tough gym to play in. Whiteoak got off to a very slow start after an over hour bus ride. They were a majorly shell shocked in the first half then settled down and played Notre Dame even in the second half, not to mention Whiteoak's best player was playing hurt. Whiteoak is no where near the same team at this point in the year.
The argurment of the SHL vs SOC has to do more with lopsided seeding and the SOC having 7 votes to the SHL's 3. It has become so predictable it is laughable. East played 1 division 3 team, WEST UNION! and had a schedule full of games against NEW BOSTON, ROSE HILL, and WESTERN, while Whiteoak was playing Portsmouth, Cincinnati Christian (#1 seed in Southwest), Hillsboro, North Adams twice, Eastern Brown(#1 seed in Waverly sectional), Peebles, Fairfield twice, Notre Dame (#1 seed in valley sectional)
It's obvious man....and it is not going to change until OHSAA makes a logical decision to change it. Ironman92 posted the records of SHL vs SOC in the sectional, it is not pretty. This is not the first year this argument has been discussed, its annual.
...............................and that my friends is the UGLY TRUTH!!!!

Re: Valley D-4 sectional
I agree with Titan Pride on this. I think that East was clear cut 2 or 3, dropped to 3 but oh well.
Re: Valley D-4 sectional
The East vs Eastern game will be Tuesday the 12th.
And blah, blah, blah, yawn! This is the same old rhetoric I have heard for the last 25 years. Play the game your dealt, and if you really are the better team, then 4 qtrs will prove you right. Its tourney time people, the time for talking is over. Now, its time to let your game do the talking. There has never been a time that a team hasnt felt as if they should have went here, or gotten a different seed.
Oh, and by the way keep up the billboard material about teams having weak schedules that include the likes of lowly Western. We love it.... Wont be sophs next year.......
