So I highly doubt Wheelersburg defense was better than Athens. Tri Valley and Athens were the two best defenses that year

Watkins was only 4-6 last year. Athens won 31-28. Athens lost to a Logan team that had not won a game all year up to that point.

Hey guys, we almost won a State Championship in 2014. That was the best team to ever come out of southern Ohio, Nevermind those teams that went and won the State. They could score so many points, it was nuts. They ALMOST did it. There is nobody in southern Ohio EVER that could beat them. They were the greatest. They were so good that nobody has heard anything relevant about them since. It would just be too much for people to handle.

Burg that same year. Would have made several stops. No way Athens scored more than 30. Burg was much more Physical than any team they played. Burg also had a nasty defense with tons of speed. No doubt in my mind Burg Beats them.

That same team played valley for the region and was taken to overtime and got lucky to leave with a win. That was the topic but with many chat forums there was a side bar conversation , 2014 Athens was a monster . Maybe the most explosive offense in Ohio high school football history . Burg was a final 4 team , food team for sure .
