If Eastern plays there game they should win by 10 but if they let West control the flow of game it might be a fight West is a very scrappy team but if we play defense and rebound we should come away with the win good luck boys

Looked up some scores:

west 68 Valley 66 win by 2
West 76 Valley 78 loss by 2
West 72 S.Webster 76 loss by 4
West 50 Burg 55 loss by 5
West beat Waverly both times in close games.

If West can beat Valley and play close with these other good SOC2 teams, the Eagles will have their hands full.

... as Eaglesnest posted the Senators have played everyone close in their losses vs some good basketball teams AND beating a good Valley squad ... I've had Portsmouth West as one of my "surprise" teams of the 2012-13 season because of the way they have played vs the Valley's, S. Webster's, burg's, Coal Grove's of Southern Ohio ... not only will Portsmouth West be a handful Saturday night I look for the Senators to surprise in round one of sectional play as well ...

Eagle Country - I totally agree, the key tonight will be controlling the flow of the game.

If you notice the scores Eaglesnest posted Burg was the only team to hold them in the 50's and I don't think that Burg is as good as any of the other teams that were mentioned. Barrick controlled the tempo of the game and got good shots on offense and I think that's the goal for the Eagles. I think Coach Fitch will look to pick his spots as he normally does with getting into transition and pushing the ball up the floor. You don't want to get into a full on track meet with West, they score in the 70's on a regular basis and have several kids that can get hot and bury 3's. Not that the Eagles can't score with them, I just think we have a MUCH better half court game and that's an advantage. Waverly had a similar strategy Tuesday night against West and they really couldn't get in a rythym on offense and kept the game in the 40's.

Take care of business tonight boys, then get focused on West...Go Eagles

Eastern Pike 57- Portsmouth West 59
The most physical game I have seen in a long time. Very competative game .

I think the game was in the 60's Lightle, maybe 68-66 or something. Lands had a long 3 to win at the end and was clearly fouled but the ref swallowed the whistle. Very poorly called game. EXTREMELY PHYSICAL GAME. The Eagles got shoved around all night and got intimidated I think the first half. Second half they adjusted and played much better. West has a very nice team. Shooters everywhere and their big kid can really leap.

Good luck to both teams in the tourney!

I guess blaming the refs is a way to blow off a loss but the lack of foul calls went both ways tonight. Also there was some beatings going on both ways. Anyway both squads played a very good game. Wishing nothing but the best in the future for both of these teams of awesome talent.

No blame game here. Congrats to the Senators on the win!

Poorly called game and I am sure some of it was both ways.
Eastern missed to many free throws and gave up to many open shots to a good West team to win. (5th place maybe, but has a win over one of the 1st place SOC 2 teams in Valley and looked very good tonight)

Wow...figured West could play with Eastern, but didn't think they could beat them. West is a team I would not want to face in the tourney as their shooting ability will keep them in most games. Eastern will be ok and still a favorite in D4 to get to Regionals.*

Have to give West a lot of credit..they came to play tonight coming off a tough loss to a good Minford team on Friday. For Eastern, I thought Thacker played his best offensive game of the year, dont know how many points he had but he was very aggressive taking the ball to the basket, that is a good sign for Eastern. Eastern's winning streak ends at 13..pretty impressive with some nice wins over good teams along the way. Time to regroup and get ready for a battle on Tuesday night at East. As for the officiating,I thought they let them play both ways, very physical and I think a game like that will help the Eagles get ready for tournament play..Awesome year so far..keep it rolling! GO EAGLES!!!
