Those 9 assistants got us a win tonight. Maybe Barrick needs a few more.RxBurgFan wrote:I'm sure with the game being this close that the 9 assistant coaches for the tigers are about to wear the edge of their seats out.

That was a big win against a stellar coach for the Tigers. Thought Cox's three in the early part of the fourth was huge.

Tonight was the first time I had seen Ironton play all year. They have to be the team to beat in the entire region. They will not be an easy out for ANYONE.

Really?? Do you have the stat line on them? How many points, rebounds, assists, steals, etc did they have? I thought it was the 5 kids on the floor that got the win, but maybe I'm wrong.fightingtigers45 wrote:Those 9 assistants got us a win tonight. Anyway, congrats to Ironton on the win and best of luck the rest of the tourney. This game turned out just about like I thought it would. The Pirates hung tough for a half but that slow down ball will bite you in the rear if you can't score points. Doesn't matter if you hold a team under 50 points if you can't score more than 35 or 40 a game.

Why does anyone care how many assistant Coaches are on the Tigers bench?
I think it's pretty smart having your 7th, 8th, 9th and JV Coaches on the Varsity bench, maybe more teams should do it
Nice win Tigers, one game at a time.......

The 5 kids got us a win too. It was entire team effort. From the 9 assistants...to the head coach...to the players...even our water boy (who would be the best shooter in the region if he had eligibility left). Point being...doesn't matter if Ironton has 9 assistants or 2 or 40...that many guys want to be around and help this special group of young men and lead them where they deserve. I see nothing wrong with that. Go Tigers.Burg_Grad_77 wrote:Really?? Do you have the stat line on them? How many points, rebounds, assists, steals, etc did they have? A lot of teams have tried but nobody yet has been able to guard themNewEra wrote:Oh Ironton is vulnerable, just have to know how to guard them.

And you need the talent to do so. Knowing how and actually succeeding are two very distinct differences. We will see how it shakes outNewEra wrote:Oh Ironton is vulnerable, just have to know how to guard them.

No one has guarded this particular way in which I am referring to. Wheelersburg was playing straight man but with a smart gameplan, just needed a few more players to execute the win.

Wheelersburg is athletic, but they werent deep enough on the bench to keep fresh bodies on Ironton's scorers to wear them down.
There are several teams in the region that do, but it will take their A+ game to beat Ironton.

Problem being, you can't get away with more than 5 on the court at a time :122245NewEra wrote:No one has guarded this particular way in which I am referring to. Wheelersburg was playing straight man but with a smart gameplan, just needed a few more players to execute the win.

So, is Carter's ankle going to be well enough for the next game ?
