Not everyone pays school taxes. This would be a way of getting money from people who don't pay taxes to schools money. If you pay income tax, you should like this idea becuase it is going to lower the income tax rate.
How would cutting a few people's salary come close to the amount of money they would generate from this new tax?
If you really believe this going to lower your tax rate than I have some ocean front property in Arizona for you.lol that is the funniest thing I have heard all day.
This is Kasich's way of lowering income taxes for himself and his rich friends and pass the buck onto us. This will cost us more. You will have to pay taxes to get your car washed. Those are the kinds of services being taxed as well.

Come to our class on politics. We have been paying and experiencing them for years. One thing you will learn from college when you get in the real world is just because it works in a book doesn't mean it will work in real life. Did you learn in that class how Kasich tried to take care of the people who work in education in the state? Now that cracks me up.
I have to agree with Paladin on this one and I have been a life long Republican until this clown was put into office. If you every really listen to our great Governor, he is all about taking care of his rich friends and cares nothing for the middle class or education for the general population. One of the biggest hypocrites on the planet!
Do not be surprised if you are looking at the beginning of the end of high school sports as we know them. It will turn into club sports and only the rich and the very good will be playing.

According to the article posted on this thread there is nothing set in stone that says he will lower taxes,it just says he wants to lower SALES taxes,so I guess we have to trust him to keep his word on it,don't no what everyone else thinks but that is a scary thought IMO
whatever happened to representation without taxation? it might only be 5% here, a quarter there....sooner or later, it all adds up. sales tax, property tax, payroll tax, state tax, city tax, federal tax, sportsmans tax, luxury tax, tax just because we can tax. gas prices are through the roof, and what's it cost for a playoff ticket nowadays? more and more and more. it's time Americans take back what we built! just my 10 second rant. thanks for reading. we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
I've about had it with this propaganda that 47 percent don't pay any taxes - sales tax, gas tax, different federal taxes on services like phones and you can go on. It doesn't help to take more money from poorer people, who will just then have to turn to the government for more services. We want their capital to grow so they can provide for themselves. Should that not be the goal of our society?
A study was recently done about Gov. Kasich's tax proposal and it will raise taxes on those making $75,000 and below but give those making above $250,000 a tax cut of over $2,500. This is redistribution toward the higher incomes. The sales tax is a regressive tax where folks with smaller incomes have to spend a higher amount of their income on goods to survive than those who make more money.
I believe government is doing too much, that we need to streamline it and make it more efficient and dedicate it to providing core services, one of which is public education. The governor's budget also flatlines funding for most poorer districts, whos cost will not be flatlined as real inflation continues to go up. This means more levies and things like that.
I can't totally blame the governor, as a lot of these issues rest in Washington. We've went from a nation of producers to more of a nation of service through bad trade policy that has made us dependent on communist governments, like China. It's bipartisian idiocy. I'm sad to see what is happening to our republic in a number of areas.
As far as this policy, I'd leave the current system alone rather than adopt this. And we need to find ways to better fund our schools from a state level. If we are going to broaden any taxes, this is where the money should go. Giving districts like Olentangy a 333 percent increase or New Albany around 80 while flatlining poor communities is a recipe to create even more dependence on the state. We need strong eduction, strong families to support our children and actual real jobs with real living wages for when our kids come out of college.
Vote the Idiot and his cronies out of office. The only bottom lines he cares about are his and his donners. The great people of Ohio deserve better. This coming from a life long Republican turned conservative democrat

I have believe I have more liberal views such as the support for abortion and support gay marriage. But when it comes to $$$ i trust the conservatives with my tax dollar. I can't stand all of the programs that help out people who dont want to help themselves. I will admit though, I didn't vote for Obama. I don't see how any American these days could ever vote for someone who's middle name is Hussein. As far as Kasich, I think he has done a good job in our state so far. Our economy seems to be as strong or stronger than the rest of the country and our unemployment rates are lower. :12222

Gee, most be time for another tax cut to the R's rich friends.
When will the voting public wake up ?
How does this differ from all the stuff Obama's doing?

How in the world can you throw a jab at "R" for raising taxes after all the "D's" are raising taxes on every thing coming and going? And I will agree, when will the voting public wake up! Why not drug test all the recipients of social programs before they recieve their checks. Oh, I forgot the "D's" wont stand for that. Sorry to bring politics into it but you sir started it.
Simply put, states that have implemented drug testing for benefits as a cost saving measure have lost a ton of money, as only 2% of benefit reciepents have failed, while the average cost to adminster the program has been around $150 Million.
I thought the casinos were the answer to the states financial problems. Oh yea the lottery was to help the schools out financially too. Why do we still have to pass levies for new schools?
Why not drug test all the recipients of social programs before they recieve their checks.
I'm not going to get into a political debate on R v. D (stupid anyhow, and the division is a problem in our nation to begin with).
However, I did want to touch on this. In theory, I agree with this. But it is not financially viable.
What people fail to realize when using this as an example, is that drug tests cost money. And you cannot test a select few, it has to be everyone using these benefits. The state would end up spending WAY more money to run the tests than they would in savings from failed tests. It's simply not a feasible solution. That is unless you've found a new free tests with people working for free to administer them -- in which case, by all means...
