Gotta remember, thats SE Politics, they try to please everyone. Jenna is the best in S. E.
Even thou her teammates don't contribute much.
Yes, I know this will draw opposing views from the Eastern folks.
She does it all.

The difference between Jenna and all of you is, she is the first to talk about TEAM. One girl can't do it all. It takes all of them. So please quit posting stuff like this. Our girls read this stuff and they don't need to think that they don't contribute. We are so PROUD of all of Jenna's accomplishments and so PROUD of our WHOLE team! And can we try to remember that they are 16,17, and 18 year old girls with real feelings that do get hurt by such statements.

The other team members scored 25 points, and they needed every one of them. The others made a whole lot of clutch plays, including making tough shots, good defense, good rebounds, and 6/8 on FTs including making both of the front ends of both the one and ones they attempted.

Nevertheless, it is still true that if Jenna didn't play, the chances of Eastern winning the game are less than just about any other team who didn't have their best player.

My post was not meant as being disrespectful toward the other players on the team, it was a fact.

I do not think a one-woman show will be able to defeat Hiland. I think their coaching staff will incorporate a defense to force the other players on Eastern to beat them.

I also do not believe the best player for Hiland will be coming off of an injury allowing Eastern not to see her best.

If the other players from Eastern can score and take the pressure off of their star then maybe Hiland will be in trouble.

Good luck to both teams.

I follow Tusky County more than I do the Eastern area, that is the reason I am going with Hiland, and I picked them to win it all.

'one player' TEAMS don't make it to the state tournament ... it takes FIVE on the court to play great defense ... since you are facing other great teams at the regional level, if you don't have FIVE - your done.

Eastern is a DIV team with two 6-footers, who are both good, athletic basketball players ... Jordan Parker would probably average 20 pts per game if she played on any other team ... I sat with the Trimble coach for a few before last nights game and he raved about Savannah Hawley's defense versus Sycamore Mohawk (and she can knock down the three) ... Coach Burdette talked about Parkers defense in the article after the Sycamore game ... and its not like 5-foot-10 Maddie Rigsby is out their filling up space, she would be the star on a team like Fed Hock or Wahama ... Burdette is a special player, no doubt about it, and she has skills that allow her to score points ... but basketball takes three components - scoring (offense), defense and rebounding ... you MUST do all three well to have success.

Hiland may very well win, but I doubt any team at state is simply a "one woman show."

You can look back throughout the year and Jenna wasn't even our leading scorer in most of our games. When the competition goes up, we rely a little more on her. Of course you always want the ball in your best players hands. They couldn't guard her last night so why would we go away from giving her the ball everytime? It wouldn't have made much sense. Swatzel was in foul trouble. Savannah and Jordan were struggling shooting the ball so Jenna did what any Player of the Year would do.

There is no question that Jenna is the best player. However, I also think there is no question that Eastern is a TEAM. The last game, I feel some players were nervous and their play showed that. In order to win moving forward, everyone has to step up. BH will not allow Jenna to score 32 points.
Goble-continue to play hard and get after it defensively. 3 or 4 ponts and 5 rebounds!!!!
Keller-3 or 4 points and 5 rebounds along with two blocks
Rigsby- very capable of scoring 10 points. Must help take care of the ball and make good decisions
Hawley- Pure Shooter!!!! We will need you to hit a couple threes and continue playing great defense
Swatzel-No silly fouls. Own the paint. 10-12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks
Parker- Must have at least 10 points and be a good decision maker. I have never seen such a good player with such little self- confidence.
Jenna Lynn Burdette- Continue to play like you have since 2nd grade!

No one has to do anything more than they are capable of. Play within yourself, have confidence in your abilities, and most importantly have some fun!!!

*Shooters shoot, Rebounders rebound, and everyone plays defense!!!!
