Correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt Fort Frye tie with MC to win the PVC in both Football and Basketball?

New year fellas....can't wait for hoops season. Should be competitive in the league again this year. Last year was a good season for P.V.C hoops and I'd say this one will be too.

It will be a good basketball league again. I think there will be several good games in the league. An early one to watch will be Monroe Central @ Caldwell on a Saturday night to open the season for the Redskins. Central plays us (West M) @ home the night before.

It looks like three of our best teams might be playing football in week 11, I doubt any of the three win but all will be affected with some of the best basketball players on the football teams.

Fort Frye has a super tough non league schedule - Warren (2013 Final 4) 2x , Wheeling Park, St Clairsville (sweet 16 2013), and Belpre.

Caldwell has a tough schedule out of the conference this year. Heard they play Columbus DeSales in the route 40 classic, Meadowbrook and either Columbus Whitehall or Harvest prep in some holiday tournament at Meadowbrook. I would imagine they will play in the Ovac tournament again. They play Belpre twice and Barnesville twice and Marietta once.
The league is going to be good again this year. Fort, Trail, Central and Caldwell all should be good. I think Frontier will get better. The only bad teams will be River and Shenandoah.

Believe it or not Fort Frye is loaded. Lead by 3 returning starters in Legraen, Chandler Lang, and Jordan Anderson. Carter Kiefer who played a ton of varsity last year will step in and start..5th starter spot in up in the air between many players that starred on the 19-2 JV team..Logan (Billy) Madison 6-3 power player with a good outside shot. Big body and good rebounder could be a little slow for this uptempo team. Devin Brooker smaller guard but terrific shooter. He made 6 threes in a game 5 times last yr. Tyson Niswonger Sr very athletic can really guard the position. Issac Klinger G very fast good ball handler that sees the floor great. Derek Layton big strong perimeter player that can guard bigs. Justin Anderson freshman guard 6-2. Not sure if the kid will step in at varsity right away but kid is instant offense. Scored 40 in a game multiply times last season. The most deep squad since 2002-2003. They will shocked teams speed and full court pressure. Expect them to get a ton of points in transition. Also think people will be shocked to see how good Seth has got. He has played so much AAU and teams will be watching best player in the league.

I agree, Fort will be really good again. I saw Legraen at the Caldwell shoot out playing with an AAU team. He has improved a lot. I think he with Nixon, and Toland will be the best forwards in the league. Wiechman will be the best guard. He was the best player in the shoot out that day and the best player every time I watched them this summer. The Starr boys from Trail will be good. The two guards from Central will be good. Lang obviously is really good. There was a freshman from River who I think will surprise the league too. The league has some really good players. It will be fun to watch this winter.

Hopefully score or find someone else open who can haha. Lang is a great defender, he will have his hands full with Jonathan and Jonathan will with him. Fort Frye plays really great team Defense and Wiechman will have to play under control or they will foul him out. Over the summer he really did that. I know he put a crazy amount of time in working on his perimeter game with Crane and Lori this summer. If he shoots it like he did then he becomes a nightmare match up because there aren't many with his type of quickness. He is a really good athlete at barely 5'10 he was effortlessly jumping up and hanging on the rim in June. Saw him a few weeks ago and he looks like he has put on muscle. The other kids have developed too. They spend a lot of time in the off-season and I think it's going to pay off. We see some of the success they are having in fall sports. Harding in cross and Clark, Baker, Carpenter, Lori, Heller, Cubas, and a few others in football. Plus Figel and Leasure have been working exclusively in the gym and weight room this fall. I hope some of that work and success carries over. It's been a while since Caldwell basketball had high hopes.

Fort Frye's Seth Legraen has indeed improved greatly since last season. He played for our AAU program OV Hidden Grms and was prolly the hardest working kid in the program. His length will create serious problems for PVC foes. Biggest area of improvement is his post game. Adding the ability to score around the rim will make Seth a legit 20 ppg scorer in league play.
Carter Keifer will be a huge asset to the Cadets. Athletic and a high basketball IQ he gives Fort Frye 3 kids that can hurt you bad. If they can develop some debth, the Cadets could make a serious run at a East DIstrict Chamionship as well as a PVC title.

How I see it.. 1. Fort Frye see above.. They could lose 1 league game on the road.. 2.Buckeye Trail- Toland is a beast downlow and Tyler Starr can shoot but can they handle the pressure? 3.Caldwell- ton of talent I think this is the year they breakthrough a bit. I really think Clark is a stud. 4. Monroe Central- young and lost top 3 scorers. I don't see this huge jump up even with Nixon. Playing good uptempo D helps. 5. Frontier- Young talent is great this team will surprise - Matheny , Barnes and Camino. 6. River don't know much about this team except they lost everyone. 7. Shenandoah - They will be terrible. The leading returner is Tanner Moore who played 6 varsity quarters.. They will get stomped frequently.

I am beyond excited to the Super Sectional in D3 east. 16 teams vote and breakup into 2 sectionals at Claymont and Meadowbrook.. In previous years the PVC has stuck together vs buckeye 8 but this year they won't have the numbers. 4 PVC schools- Trail,MC, Doah, Fort and 5 Buckeye 8 schools- Ferry , Harrison Central , Bellaire, Union Local , St Clairsville 4 IVC schools - Garaway, Ridgewood , Newcomerstown ,Sandy Valley followed by 1 ECOL Coshovton, 1 MVL West M, and Barnesville. So I figure PVC teams could get the shaft. Atleast for 1st times PVC schools can pick to avoid each other in the 1st round. In the old format no matter what PVC teams were battling at Meadowbrook. It will be interesting to see if teams take the better matchup or closest venue. I wouldn't mind going to Claymont if it means an easier path to districts.
