You really think Seth can compete in the post against Baker from Caldwell, Kuhn from MC, or Toland?

ALL DAY!!!!! When you say compete, that's what this kid does! At the wing or inside, Seth Legrean is gonna compete. He isn't gonna win every battle but be a factor Heck Ya. Seth can hurt you outside but he has worked hard this spring and summer to be able to be a consistent factor putting the ball on the floor. A strong finisher means getting to the free throw line a ton. Legrean & Lang will be a tuff combo for PVC foes. Both kids are winners and neither are afraid to mix it up inside.PVCOhio wrote:You really think Seth can compete in the post against Baker from Caldwell, Kuhn from MC, or Toland?

Re: PVC 2013-2014
Seriously? The kid scored 17 and 9 as a sophomore. His strength is his defense though he does get in foul trouble sometimes. He has become elite over the summer stronger at the rim. He will be a matchup nightmare with his outside inside game.PVCOhio wrote:You really think Seth can compete in the post against Baker from Caldwell, Kuhn from MC, or Toland?

Yes, yes, and yes. Legrean can definitely compete against Baker and Toland. I've never heard of the Kuhn kid, so i won't comment on that. But as far as Baker and Toland go, Legraen definitely can compete against them. Toland is probably better in the post so to speak, but Legraen's ability to step outside makes him a tough matchup. Baker has some potential, but I doubt he's seen much gym time compared to the others since hes playing football as well.PVCOhio wrote:You really think Seth can compete in the post against Baker from Caldwell, Kuhn from MC, or Toland?

Like others have said Seth has played so much basketball over the last yr in AAU, Summer Ball, and Fall league. He has played with much better competition and won't be intimidated. I know people are tired of the Cadets winning the league but they will be better this season.

Re: PVC 2013-2014
I hope you are right, the better the players and teams in the league the more respect everyone gets. I think Fort will be good for sure. I still think it's going to show not having Smith, he was really good. Lang and Lagrean are really good players though and they have a great program. I'm going to list what I remember each team returning. Feel free to add who I miss.
Fort-Lang, Anderson, Kiefer, Lagrean. I don't know their other players but they always have good role players who are program kids.
Trail-T. Starr, L. Starr, Gray, Toland, Doudna. I don't think they will be that deep. Not sure who after the first five they will have but the first five is going to be good.
Central-Nixon, Brown, Jorris, Duffy. They had a nice JV team, one really good shooter. Nixon will make a huge difference.
River-They only return one kid out of the rotation. Not sure of the boys name but the freshman point guard looks like he will be good after seeing him this summer.
Frontier-Camino, Matheny, Schneider, Barnes. Had some decent young kids but they still have Roger.
Shenandoah-Lost everything. JV team was pretty bad. They do always have big strong kids. I really doubt they can compete this year, at least not with the top four or possibly five.
Caldwell-Wiechman, Clark, Harding, Figel, Baker, Carpenter, Leasure, Heller, Cubas, Ridenour, Lori, McElfresh, Riski, new kid (don't know his name) is supposed to be pretty good. Return the entire team and gained the experience of playing last season as freshmen and sophomores. They make up the core of the football and cross country teams which had a lot of success this fall. I think this is going to be a good year for the Redskins.
I think the top four could finish in any order and are Fort, Caldwell, Trail, and Central. I think Frontier and River will battle for fifth and Shenandoah will bring up the rear.

I just don't see Caldwell matching up well against FF. but I do think they can beat any other team. Not saying FF will go undefeated I just don't see Caldwell beating them. I don't see anyone from that team with the ability to guard Seth or the guard that wiechman and Clark isn't guarding. I hope you do well because four quality teams will make for a fun league.

Re: PVC 2013-2014
I love Shon Smith and he was great but he slowed the team down wanting to run plays through him. From what I saw this summer these guys will just get the rebound and go.I know you only listed 4 players but FF is 9 deep this year. The JV team went 19-2. Klinger, Layton, Madison, Brooker, and Niswonger all have 1-2 things they are great at it. Freshman Anderson will be the best freshman in the league. He will probably start out on JV but will end up on varsity soon.

Re: PVC 2013-2014
Fort is the one team I'm not sure about for Caldwell. I think they match up really well against everyone else. Fort is disciplined on D and that tends to bother teams who want to push the tempo like a Caldwell and a Central. Lagrean is a bad match up for pretty much everyone but Nixon and possibly Gray in this league. I will be surprised to see Fort really out and running and pressing a lot. They might do it some but they have always hung their hat so to speak on patience, shooting and certainly the half court man D. Thanks for throwing the rest of the Fort names in there, I know they have a lot of kids but I didn't know most of their names. I try to be as realistic as possible when it comes to my opinions on here but I do have a son playing for Caldwell and that makes me a homer at least to an extent. Just happy we have a program and team that is on the rise. It wasn't very long ago that we were an automatic 40 point win for pretty much everyone.

Re: PVC 2013-2014
When Caldwell plays Fort Frye it's tough for them they will have lean on Clark. Weichman will struggle against the leagues best defender Chandler Lang.Henniger is different then Dan. Dan had a system and that's what he did. I think Henniger will use his strengths. Most of the 9 varsity boys play great defense and they are all good dribblers. This team beat Warren in the summer. I think it's funny people assume FF will be down because they lost Smith.
Re: PVC 2013-2014
I forgot all about Justin Anderson. This FF team is longer and more athletic than last year. I don't think pressing is a great idea, but transition offense and high pressure half court defense is definitely a possibility.

Re: PVC 2013-2014
So now that MC levy failed what's it mean for sports? I heard they have a good booster program.
Re: PVC 2013-2014
EDspy has touched on an x-factor. Coach Henniger seems to have the talent to be a good coach, but he is young and inexperienced. He didn't run the team the same way last year that Liedtke did. He's developing his own style and his own program. Yes, he had a great guy to learn from and is building on a solid foundation, but I'm sure he has a lot of growing to do. In the meantime, even with the great talent Fort Frye has this year, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them lose a league game or two. It takes a lot of experience to learn how and when to make the right in-game adjustments.
Also, a few of the key players are still practicing football, so it will take a little longer to get their "basketball legs" under them.

Re: PVC 2013-2014
How many play football? I know Lang does. It usually takes a few years to really see a coaches impact on a program. Fort had such a well established program that it didn't need any changing.
My way way early predictions for the league:
Fort Frye 10-2 (the losses to Caldwell and Trail)
Caldwell 9-3 (losses to Fort, Trail, Central)
Trail 9-3 (losses to Fort, Caldwell, Central)
Central 8-4 (losses to Fort 2x, Caldwell, Trail)
Frontier 4-8 (losses to Fort, Caldwell, Trail, Central all 2x)
River 2-10 (only wins against Shenandoah)
Shenandoah 0-12 (no league wins)
If everyone could put the non-league schedules up I'd predict those games as well. I think Caldwell will beat Barnesville both times, I think they will beat Belpre both times, I think they will win one of the two games at the Meadowbrook holiday thing, I think they will probably lose to Columbus DeSales in Zanesville. I think they will beat Marietta and win the small school OVAC tournament. I think they go 8-2 in the non-conference. I see a 17-5 type season and a decent seed in the tournament for them this year.
I know Fort always challenges themselves in non-league games. Not sure what Trail and Central have on the slate.

Re: PVC 2013-2014
I think you are being kinda homerish on Caldwells win total I say they win 14 games. Marietta and Belpre will be tough matchups for Caldwell. Marietta is huge and will be better with Duckworth. Belpre has a big kid in Terriulet.Caldwell could maybe beat FF but that is a bad matchup with them. Only 2 players play football for FF and that's Lang and Layton.

Re: PVC 2013-2014
You could be right but they have talent and have done a ton of work. They scrimmaged Belpre last year and was the better team. I'm sure those will be tough games. I expect them to beat Marietta but it won't be easy. I would say that Fort will win all but the Warren games in their non league. I think Fort has a 17 plus win season and I think Trail will push that win total as well.

I have Fort Frye losing 2 to Warren , maybe St C or Fairfield Union, 1 league game or OVAc game so I'm going to say 18-4.
