These two OVC opponents match up once again but this time for a District Championship. These two split the regular season meetings each taking a game on their own home court. Gonna be a good matchup. Thoughts?

I'm hoping for a good game. The Peake needs to shoot a lot better than they did in the matchup at Portsmouth.

Portsmouth did out rebound the Peake at Portsmouth in the last match up . this should be a very good and close game just like all of Peake Trojan match ups are

Maybe, maybe not. If I'm not mistaken Ironton split with Portsmouth and took Chesapeake to OT this year.

Offensive rebounding and 3 point shooting will be the keys for this game. Whichever team wins both stats will win.

In the first match up, Chesapeake dominated Portsmouth in every phase of the game, especially inside. In the second game, Portsmouth made a much more concentrated effort to rebound, and they won that battle, and ultimately the game. Both games were great to watch. This one will be no different...Two talented teams that are well coached.

I think the Peake will win this game in a classic at the Convo.

I would like to see Chesapeake win - but, if I was a gambler (which I'm not), I would have to bet on Portsmouth.

These two teams split with each other by similar margins. In the first game (68-53 Peake), 6-6 Brad Meadows dominated Portsmouth in the paint......25 points and 21 rebounds. In the second game (61-49 PHS), the Trojans did an outstanding job on Meadows.......holding him to 8 points before he fouled out. PHS did a very good job on the boards vs. a taller Chesapeake team in the second game.

If the Trojans defend and rebound the way they did in the second game, they have an excellent chance to move on the regionals. Anything less than that and the Panthers will win the district title. This is the 3rd time in 5 years that Chesapeake and Portsmouth have met in the tournament. Portsmouth won 69-68 in the 2011 regional final and also won 53-45 in the 2012 regional semifinal. Looking back on history, this will be the first time that the two teams have met for a district championship.

Since 2010, Chesapeake and Portsmouth have advanced to the state tournament 3 times. The Panthers did in 2010, while the Trojans turned a back to back feat in 2011 and 2012.

This is going to be a great match up. Coach Davis will have his hands full stopping the Trojans. But I believe he and The Peake can pull it off. For this to happen I believe Meadows and Thompson need to have a combined 30 pts and 25 rebs. Rhoades needs another huge game (25 points) and one of the other guards needs to score in double figures. As always the defense will need to be awesome. Not sure about the score but figure around 65-62 The Peake.

The Mighty Men of Troy have, let's face it, not played lock down D this year. Which to me is rather disappointing considering all the athletes the Trojans sport. Can the defense deliver a perfect game? Portsmouth has the man power. I feel it's a matter of heart and a matter of wills on the stop end.
