Re: District 14 - All District Selections
Congratulations to all the girls and coaches selected to the coaches All District Team. A special congrats to Chillicothe's Bri Dawes, Osh Brown and Shay Lett for their selections. While I'm biased and feel they deserved at least one first team spot the Lady Cavs 18-6 well balanced team will play for the D2 District Title lead by my coach of the year selection Pat Beard.
Re: District 14 - All District Selections
I believe at least one maybe two of the Chillicothe girls should have been first team.
Court House nor Hillsboro had one player near as good as the three Chillicothe had on the other teams.
Pat Beard should have been coach of the year. He took a team with a losing record last
year to league champs. He had very few loses this year and beat Unioto in regular season . Unioto coach did a good job but he had a winning team last year.
Seems to be a lot of politics in some of the first team selections. More or less vote against Chillicothe.

Re: District 14 - All District Selections
Chillicothe definitely should've had at least one 1st teamer, but that could say more about their team's balance if you want to look at it that way.
I think both coaches did an amazing job this season, but I was surprised Pat didn't win it considering their turnaround from last year to this year.
I do have to say congrats to Alexis and Jeff, as well as Taylor and Hannah. Should be a great game on Wednesday evening!

Re: District 14 - All District Selections
Roney not making first team makes the D-4 selections look " mysterious" . or more like
Re: District 14 - All District Selections
The coaches selections will always have some questionable results. People vote for their own kids and conferences regardless of whether they are the best players. They rely on stats as much as possible because they most likely have not watched all the girls. Stats don't lie but they don't come anywhere close to showing the whole picture due to various strengths of schedules, etc. Some coaches don't even show up to vote so their kids and anyone they would have voted for suffers.
Re: District 14 - All District Selections
I would move Brown or Dawes to first team and drop Chaffins to second team in D2. I could also see the argument for Beard being coach of the year based on the turnaround, albeit I do believe Chillicothe would have had a much better record last year without the injury bug.
I'd also move Robinson from Westfall up the list.

Re: District 14 - All District Selections
I guess 23-ppg, 14-rpg ,8-steals 5-blks and 5-assists doesn't get u 1st team! But 10 ppg does!!!

It's a shame really , makes a Mockery out of the entire process . I understand small slights or close calls ... Roney not on 1st teAm is a bad injustice . And SW only having 1 girl out of the top 10 ?
Re: District 14 - All District Selections
So are coaches suppose to look at more than just numbers? I'm guessing they look at attitude, hustle, sportsmanship, is the individual a team player, etc….
It's a difficult process and it's subjective. Overall, I thought they did an ok job.
Here's one that jumped out to me. Kamryn Conaway as Honorable Mention. She's pretty darn good in nearly all aspects of the game. Thought she might be at least third team.

Re: District 14 - All District Selections
Sometimes there are tradeoffs for players getting district honors vs. getting all-state honors. I'm not saying that is the case here, but when the state awards come out, some of you may feel differently.

Not surprised Jeff Miller was coach of the year and Alexis Overly was player of the year in D2. Great player and Coach Miller does a good job.
I can't believe Kelsie Robinson from Westfall only makes 3rd team while Skeens and Wheeler from SE get 1st and 3rd team. For anyone who doesn't know, Westfall beat SE twice this season and finished with a better record. Either these selections are inaccurate or Southeastern was the worst coached team ever this season.

Skeens definitely deserved first team! Probably the best Player in southern Ohio!
