Russell ky (7) @ Ironton(35)
Thoughts on this one. Will Ironton go 0-3 in non conference games again this year

Why does it matter? This is not a playoff team and OVC teams are weak.

Re: Week 2 : (0-1) Russell ky @ (0-1) Ironton
well gang time to move ahead after that loss to what the burg coach thinks might be his best burg team yet. time to move on to the Russell red devils.
IN THE LONG GRASS BY THE WATER, SO WATCH YOUR STEP. AND LET'S GO IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS, OHIO STATE BUCKEYES AND THE CINCINNATI BENGALS
Re: Week 2 : (0-1) Russell ky @ (0-1) Ironton
The Tigers will be 0-3 in non-conference play and will not go undefeated in the OVC again this year. 6-4 or 5-5 is best they can hope for.
Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.

Re: Week 2 : (0-1) Russell ky @ (0-1) Ironton
The O-Line must do a better job, and the Defense needs to stop arm tackling.
Best of luck to the Tigers.

Re: Week 2 : (0-1) Russell ky @ (0-1) Ironton
The problem with Ironton that then spreads out into the fans, parents and players is the negative attitude. Not everyone but a good number. That is gone just as the Lutz era. When teams came to Tank knowing they had to be on game just to keep it close. After 1 game against a very good team. Then the childish comments about the Burg will not last not in the playoffs. That kind of attitude is out there with Ironton fans. They are not the team and team of supporters from before. Where now a good number of people would rather not win and get new coaches rather than support the team. Just be careful what you wish for. Just because the grass may seem greener on the other side of the fence. That green maybe caused by a lot of fertilizer. Enjoy your season from whatever side of the fence you are on.
Re: Week 2 : (0-1) Russell ky @ (0-1) Ironton
Grass might not be greener on the other side but where I am standing it smells like something else. This staff has had 4 plus months to get ready for this game and that is the product we have to watch. 2 years in a row getting beat by 40 plus points and this year we did not even score a touchdown.

Ironton could easily start out 0-4 and finish 4-6 if not very careful

Football is just not about coaching. Even though they get all the blame. The negative outside influences effects the team. Just part of the machine. Which some people will not let run right. The players and coaches can still come together to play the games left. Just may not be the dominate level as before. No matter what there is a lot of people on each side of the fence as well as many that do not care. This fence has a lot of holes in it.

If Salyers gets hurt, that's exactly what's going to happen. They've put all their eggs in his basket and now have to live with it.X8XOHIOLEGENDX7X wrote: Sun Aug 27, 2017 12:15 pm Ironton could easily start out 0-4 and finish 4-6 if not very careful

Well he's a really good transfer. And they've tailored a supposedly "copied playbook" just for him.
Re: Week 2 : (0-1) Russell ky @ (0-1) Ironton
22 positions on Wheelersburg. Realistically how many Ironton players are good enough to start? Very few.
They are completely outmanned. As an example, the first touchdown was good defense. Holden was just better.

Excuses every year. Burg is a smaller school and dominate the area. Ironton could do the same thing. Can't stand excuses. A lot of coaches would love to have the kids Ironton does year after year.
Looks to me the program has gone in the wrong direction for years.
