Portsmouth @ Warren 2/13
Portsmouth @ Warren 2/13
The Trojans come back to the Warrior Dome for the first time since ending the Warrior's 21-game home winning-streak while also having lost the last two games in the series. History has favored the away team in the series so it will be interesting to see how this one turns out. With a Warren win Friday they will clinch the SEOAL and the third year in a row having at least a share or winning the league title outright.
Re: Portsmouth @ Warren 2/13
Yes, they were up 15 in the 4th quarter. Warren scored 6 points in the 3rd quarter and had 30 points thru 3, then ended up winning 79-74 in OT.noreply66 wrote:Didn't the Trojans blow a good size lead in the 1st game with Warren?

Re: Portsmouth @ Warren 2/13
Warren is a much better team than they were in December when they traveled to Portsmouth and upset the Trojans. The biggest difference will be Aaron Mazurkiwitz. The Sr. guard missed the last game due to a long standing commitment as Aaron is an All State soccer player. Murzurkiwitz is the Floor General for the Warriors especially on the offensive end. Although he doesn't score a lot he runs the show and the offense flows thru him.
The other factor is the substitution rotation now is set. The kids fulfill their roles and execute at a much higher level than earlier in the year.
Seth Hall has turned speed & defense into a weapon for the Warriors. Seth Hall along with Mazurkiwitz, Henthorn, Dennis and Drayer are one of the few sets of guards in SE Ohio able to keep up with the speed and athleticism of the Portsmouth backcourt.
Mike Hall goes for the record books Friday night. The 6'6" Sr is 14 points shy of joining the 1000 Point Club. The consummate team player Hall has NEVER led the Warriors in scoring average or shot attempts but he has led the Warriors the past 3 years in assist. Often bypassing personal stats for team goals, the Warriors have won 82 games during his varsity career.

With PHS having open dates in BB due to no games with SEOAL, why not continue this series?

Re: Portsmouth @ Warren 2/13
Tomorrow is a sad end to a GREAT rivalry.......it's the last game between these schools as Portsmouth exits the SEOAL after this season. Not only has it been a great rivalry, but one in which the homecourt hasn't helped the home team that much. Warren has won 5 of the last 6 at PHS, while the Trojans have won 3 of the last 4 at WHS.
Despite the fact that the Warriors have had the upper hand in the series since SEOAL play began in 2007, the Trojans have given Warren all they could handle, even in losses. I look for the Trojan Horse to come up Rt.339 and be ready for battle!!! Portsmouth will probably have to play its best game of the year to win, but they are very capable of winning at the Warriordome, having done so last year with basically these same group of Trojans.
Junior Ethan Leonard has started the last 6 games for the Trojans and has given PHS a much needed spark at both ends of the court. Portsmouth is a better team with Leonard as a starter.
I would love to keep this series going.........almost always an intense, closely contested game that comes down to the last minute.

Hope the Trojans do just that, play their best game of the year, but hope it continues each game, just keep improving and enjoy a long tourney run! Go Trojans

Got the JV score. A Warren win assure the Little Warriors another SEOAL title.

Another exiting game at warren 'we had our chances to win this game just like down at our place I was glad to see our boys fight back after going down 15 in the second qtr to take a 1 point lead to the locker room at halftime. I can bet you not many teams could come back from 15 on warren. Best of luck to warren and congrats to hall on the 1,000. Said it before ,,,hate to see this series end

Re: Portsmouth @ Warren 2/13
Congratulations to the Warren Warriors on the win.......and VERY PROUD of the Trojans for a great effort that fell just short. Like biggdowgg said, coming back from a 15 point deficit at Warren is very difficult to do against a very good Warrior team. The Trojans were down 25-10 in the middle of the 2nd quarter, and ended up going into halftime with a 28-27 lead.
PHS lost to Warren twice by a total of only 8 points......if they can take the last 3 quarters of last night's game into tournament play, given the opponent and the intense atmosphere of the Warriordome, then the Trojans can advance very far on the bracket.
A GREAT rivalry has come to an end. It's been a lot of fun seeing the Trojans and Warriors battle.......maybe sometime in the future the two schools can get together again.
