The fact that Athens played in Week 15 in 2014 won't matter in August 2015.
This might very well be the LAST match-up EVER (given the state of the SEOAL) of these two teams while there is still a SEOAL.
SEOAL Logan versus TVC Athens...who will win the last one. Whoever wins will have some bragging rights about the last match-up of two of the biggest schools in each of their respective leagues.
SEOAL vs. TVC who wins the last game played lol?
This thread will be 25 pages lol by August. Thanks moonshine for getting it started way, way early lol.

Viking, don't make up things. I don't see any Athens posters "running it down anyone's throat" about 2014. The truth is, people dog and run Athens down, and Athens posters simply defend the KIDS that play on the teams.Viking96 wrote:Jason Vorhees wrote:Whether Athens "ran" or not, they have something Logan will never attain; a trip to tje final four in football and and state runner up trophy. How many times has Logan played or even beaten Stuebenville? Does Logan even have the gonads to go into Death Valley and play them? Whether Stuebenville was "down" or not, I still believe they made the state championship in DIV. Speaking of nig fish in a small pond, Logan is quite larger than the SEOAL teams they were playing against. And for the record, what's Logan's record against Lancaster?
The truth is Athens struggled in the seoal in football and now they dominate and will continue to dominate the TVC . Only Athens administration knows why they left the seoal. Athens had a once in a lifetime team in 2014 and it's ashame how Athens posters run in down everyone's throat that they were good in 2014. But that runner up trophy won't win games in 2015.

Re: 2015 Logan @ Athens
Look for ESPN Game Day crew of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard to be at Athens the Friday afternoon before this historic match-up in August of 2015 of old SEOAL Powerhouse Logan vs. new TVC Powerhouse Athens in what could be the last SEOAL team to play Athens before the league is vanquished.
Possible celebrities to be interviewed prior to the game would logically be 93 Bulldog representing Athens and moonshine representing Logan.
Which headdress will Lee Corso put on....??? Not so fast my friends, still a lot to figure out in the months ahead before picking this one.
This will be SEO titanic game for Week 1.

Re: 2015 Logan @ Athens
When did historically Athens and Logan play when they were in SEOAL?
Was it Week 10 or was it earlier?
Did they ever play for a League Championship against one another where it came down to the winner of that game?
I think this will be one of their biggest games against each other to date, simply because of what it means...sort of a symbol of the old versus the new kind of thing.
Bragging rights for a long, long time.

I guess Viking hasn't read any Nelsonville and Logan post that we will go back to sucking, we ran, we are only winning games because we play smaller teams. It's pretty disrespectful to the kids of Athens that put in the hard work to make up excuses why Athens has turned around its program.93Bulldog wrote:haha yea rightViking96 wrote:quit making crap up , no one runs down Athens !

Doesn't matter who said what about Athens, the SEOAL, the TVC, SEO football, or pick one of a hundred more.
Most of the naysayers don't have a dog in the hunt.
This game has the possibility of being pretty epic given the run Athens has been on, versus the history of Logan. Am I lol the only one that thinks this?

That post was tongue in cheek. Yes Athens has taken some shots but Logan has taken some too about Athens playing in week 15 , nelsonville York posters giggling about the seoal crumbling. The great thing is it will be decided on the field in 2015.

Logan and Athens mostly play the 1st have of the season in the 1st few decades
In 1944 Athens and Logan played the last league game...Athens came in at 6 and 0 in the league and Logan was 5 and 1..Logan needed to win to be co-champs but Athens won 18/06 to win the league out right.
1958 they play the last league game with Athens having a chance to keep Logan from being co-champs with Wellston but the Chiefs won 38/12
1965 Athens and Logan play the last league game for the championship...Athens came in at 6 and 0 while Logan was 5 and 1...Athens won the game 18/8 and the out right title
1979 Logan and Athens play each other in the last league game to see who would take third behind Ironton and Jackson...Logan won 35/00 to finish in third
1986 They play the last league game this time nothing meant anything
1987 Logan and Athens played the last league game for the championship..both stood 4 and 0 ....Logan won 35/00
1988 In the last league game Athens had a chance to knock Logan out of a championship and to share with Warren but lost 9/0
1989 last league game Logan came in 4 and 0 and Athens was 3 and 1 and Athens left with a co-championship as they won 14/13
1990 Athens win last league game against Logan 15/07 to have a four way tie for 1st at 3 and 2
1991 Coming into this game Athens had the chance to Knock Logan out of a co-championship with Marietta but lost 29/02
1992 once again a win by Athens would give the out right championship to Gallipolis and a loss would give Logan a co-championship....Logan won 35/16
1993 No title on hand as Chiefs win 42/21
1994 This year Logan and Athens were on opposite ends of the league..Logan wins to go 6 and 0 and win championship and Athens finished 0 and 6
1995 No title on hand as Athens wins 50/21
1996 Athens lost 32/00 to finish 0 and 7 in the league
1997 Logan won 28/20 with no title at hand
1998 A win by Athens would give the Ironmen the out right championship but lost 29/00 Logan/Jackson co-champs
1999 this year Logan and Athens played their 1st league game with Logan winning 52/07
Last four years in the league Athens lost to Logan....35/07-42/18-55/00-62/06
Last 8 years Athens was in the league their record was 11 and 39 and Logan was 45 and 5
If not right they are close

And that, as they say, is why Athens ran from the SEOAL with their tail between their legs looking to beat up on weaker and smaller schools.

Are you aware that the Bulldogs schedule was actually tougher this year compared to 10 years ago when they were in the SEOAL?Paladin wrote:And that, as they say, is why Athens ran from the SEOAL with their tail between their legs looking to beat up on weaker and smaller schools.
2004
Nelsonville-York (7-4)
Meigs (6-4)
Alexander (3-7)
Waverly (5-5)
River Valley (2-8)
Gallia Academy (6-4)
Warren (2-8)
Logan (5-5)
Marietta (4-6)
Jackson (9-3)
2014
Gallia Academy (4-6)
Zanesville (5-5)
Warren (1-9)
Alexander (5-5)
Vinton County (2-8)
Steubenville (10-4)
Meigs (5-5)
Wellston (3-7)
River Valley (5-5)
Nelsonville-York (7-4)
* six of the 10 opponents are the same ... in 2014 Athens played Steubenville and Zanesville as opposed to Jackson and Logan - which is an upgrade. Vinton County/Wellston or Marietta/Waverly? Does it really matter? Kind of six in one hand and a half dozen in the other.

Actually, for most of the history between Athens and Logan Athens was a larger school, especially the history before consolidation (the old red and black Bulldogs).Jason Vorhees wrote:Whether Athens "ran" or not, they have something Logan will never attain; a trip to tje final four in football and and state runner up trophy. As recently as 2009 both teams were in Division II (btw, 9-1 Athens missed the playoffs that year).

You are right Logan will never have the same division state runner up trophy.................AND Athens will never have a state runner up trophy in Logan's division.LoganLocos wrote:Actually, for most of the history between Athens and Logan Athens was a larger school, especially the history before consolidation (the old red and black Bulldogs).Jason Vorhees wrote:Whether Athens "ran" or not, they have something Logan will never attain; a trip to tje final four in football and and state runner up trophy. Bragging rights for a long, long time.
From 1925-1939 the SEOAL did not play a full round robin schedule - teams had to play atleast 5 league games to qualify for the championship. Scheduling was all over the place.
From 1939-1966, the SEOAL schedule rotated, with each game moving forward one week (and your last league game became the first league game the next year).
In 1943, Logan and Athens met in week 7 to decide the league title. Both teams were 5-0 in league play. Athens won 20-7 and finished 8-0 (7-0).
In 1965, Logan and Athens met in week 9 (last SEOAL game). Athens was 6-0 in the league and Logan was 5-1 (Logan had won the league in '63 and '64). Athens won 18-8 at Logan. Athens finished 9-0 (7-0).
The rotation schedule continued from 1967-1985.
In 1977, Logan and Athens met in week 8. Both teams were 5-0 in the SEOAL. Logan won 44-13 and finished 10-0 (7-0). Athens also lost to Ironton in week 10 to finish 7-3 (5-2).
From 1986-1998 "Rivalry" games were played during the last week of league play, meaning Logan and Athens met during the final week of league play.
In 1987, Logan and Athens met in week 9 (last league game). Both teams were 4-0 in league play. Logan won 35-0 and finished 9-2 (5-0). Athens finished 8-2 (4-1).
In 1988, Logan and Athens met in week 9 (last league game). Logan was 4-0 in league play and Athens was 3-1 (had lost to Warren). Logan won 9-0 at home. Logan finished 7-3 (5-0). Athens finished 6-4 (3-2).
In 1989, Logan and Athens met in week 10. Logan was 4-0 in league play and Athens was 3-1 (had lost to Gallipolis). Athens won 14-13 at Athens. Logan finished 7-3 (4-1) and Athens finished 8-2 (4-1). They shared the title.
In 1990, Logan and Athens met in week 10. Logan and Athens were both 2-2 in league play. Athens won 15-7 at Logan. Logan finished 2-8 (2-3) and Athens was 7-3 (3-2). Four of six teams shared the SEOAL championship.
From 1999-2005 the league went back to rotation for the league schedule.
From 2006-2007 the SEOAL went to a two division set-up. Logan and Athens were in the same division and would play every year in a rotation set-up.

Now that is some interesting information noreply66 and LoganLocos, thanks for responding to my question looks like there were several times these two were undefeated and met for all of the marbles.
I think, as I have stated a couple times that this game coming up in August 2015 may be the one out of all of them that gets remembered the longest.
