Head coach and all assistants have been relieved of coaching duties.

From what I have heard nothing has been said to the boys, they finished school today not knowing any type of preseason workout schedule. Going to be a long summer in Coal Grove.

Final interview was today. They are hoping to name new coach in a few days. I know the former Hornet player that interviewed today. Hope he gets it.

However I can't see how that will help now that they are in a sub par conference. Ironton may dominate but they will have the work cut out for them come playoff time. That many weak games will get one's hopes up and then get demolished week 11. My to early to tell guess will be basketballs out after week 11.
Don't you think if those "Pancakes" were such easy games that teams like Coal Grove and Rock Hill or South Point would have figured out Irontons "little secret" a long time ago? I know those athletic directors want to give their coaches every chance they can to make the playoffs. Or do they?? Haha

from what I am understand mark ''hammer'' lutz has been hired as junior high head football coach. and as an assistant on the high school staff. my guess would be the offensive co-ordinator. this is an excellent move for mark and brooke lutz. and the rock hill school district he is a class act and a great role model. you'll love them there. he is bob Lutz's nephew and ran the offense for bob and qb coach. many felt he should have gotten the ironton head coaching position.

The next time I see Mark I will ask. But that does not make sense how could you be head coach for the junior high and offensive coordinator at the high school, they practice at the same time.

I was hearing that Rock Hill offered him the world. He wanted to coach football again somewhere no matter what. He firstly would have loved to have helped out as an assistant at Ironton but from what I got from the situation Vass may have been worried that the kids would have had trouble deciding who was the coach. Last I heard however the two were talking and it was looking like he was going to be on staff this season. He is a good guy and has great knowledge of the game not to mention he is an excellent math teacher. Hopefully Ironton can get it done but if not I'm sure he will do just fine. David Hopper is working real hard out at Rock Hill to bring that school back to where it used to be years ago. It might take four to six years but it is looking much better. Looks like Coal Grove is currently at the point where they could go either way. Big decisions to make up there and not much time left to make them. Hopefully whatever is decided is a good decision that helps that program get better over the years. Portsmouth and Fairland both have new coaches and that usually is tough to start out the year with. Could be a rough year for many OVC schools in football, however it might pay big dividends down the road. Let's all hope!! I am an Ironton fan but I always cheer for all southern ohio teams to win.

Hopefully there will be a new coach at Coal Grove Tuesday evening... HOPEFULLY! Board meeting will be at the High School for any grove fans wanting to show up. There was about 30 at the last meeting at the Board Office.

now from what I am understanding from a very, very reliable source is that hammer will be the head junior high coach. and assisting at the varsity level. I assume on game nights. because he'll be busy with the junior high program.

Lose interest? Don't think that will happen in Coal Grove. All this has done is hurt weight room time. What should be happening right now is the boys putting in the work themselves, showing commitment to the team and not letting some grown ups throwing tantrums interfere with them having a great season.
