The Waverly / Minford series this year is flipped from what the published schedule says. Waverly will travel to Minford tonight and then host the Falcons later.
Same with the Oak Hill series. Tigers travel to Oak Hill next Friday.
First 5 games for Waverly will be on the road as they finish up renovations to the downtown gym. Will be ready and looking good for the Holiday Classic two days after Christmas.

I see Minford coming out on top tonight. Yes, the tigers have a few key players but Minford is just and all around solid team this year.

Re: Waverly is at Minford Tonight
Minford 78-54; tale of two halves. Waverly kept it close in first half or better said Minford let them keep it close....too many one pass or no pass shots in first half. Too many threes; no inside to out. Second half Minford finally went inside and got Waverly post men in foul trouble. Had several nice interior passes for easy shots. Could have done so in first half and blown them out earlier. Several forced shots in first half when one extra pass would have had an open man for a layup. Waverly very patient and running a continuity offense; they're a year away from nobody wanting to play them. Minford has a great opportunity with this team if they can play team ball ALL the time and have ALL players commit to playing both ends of the court. Too often looking for run outs instead of finishing the defensive set and rebounding. Minford did have good balance in scoring once they shared the basketball. If they can be more patient on the offensive side and spread the ball around for the best available shot (all of them can score) and get every player committing to playing defense, they'll be hard to beat. They can win now. Should wear Gullion out in practice with post drills; nobody can match up to him in the post if he continues to be strong with the ball as he was tonight! This team already showing more resolve in finishing games they should finish than last year when they let lesser teams hang around too long. Hats off to the Tigers for their intensity and physical play (you did earn all those fouls but great intensity, hustle, physicality) and also their excellent ball movement on the offensive end; near future looks bright for the Tigers
Re: Waverly is at Minford Tonight
Minford was the heavy favorite coming in and showed why in the 4th quarter.
Waverly looked very good in the first half, lead much of it and trailed just 31-32 at the break. The Tigers trailed by 9 after three and the game was still in question. Minford pulled away in the 4th with easy transition buckets and controlling the paint.
Waverly will win some games this year and the future looks bright for the Tigers. Freshman Ethan Adrian lead the Tigers again with 16 points on 4 threes. Waverly freshman won (with several freshman playing up on JV & varsity) and the JV squad looked good in their win. Waverly has some really good looking freshmen. Waverly could be a dangerous team come tournament time as they all learn to work together.
