Pioneer Valley 2015

Post by EasternDspy »

Any schedule changes? Fort Frye replaced Van, Connotton Valley and Rosecrans with Newcomerstown, @ Johnstown Northridge and @ Wirt (WV).. I think it's some huge upgrades.

I think Johnstown-Northridge would be a tough task, and possibly Newcomerstown, which I believe has artificial turf. Wirt WV should be easy win for Fort.

Johnstown Northridge is D5 and went (1-9) but just a few years ago they were a playoff powerhouse.

Big changes to Caldwell OOC schedule. Last I heard about 3 or 4 teams had dropped them. I know newcomerstown and Bridgeport were some of them. Not sure who will be filling those dates, but I do know they will be playing Shadyside this coming regular season.

If FF is a team worth their salt they should be able to invoke the clock on Northridge.

Northridge will once again be one of the worse teams in the state.

What's Jay Circosta's status on another season with Monroe Central. Hope he comes back. The Seminoles program wouldn't be the same without him.

I heard the TVC is going to invite Fort Frye to join. Would love to see the cardets and Waterford in the same conference.

To provide a little clarity to the P.V.C. and it's future going forward. Obviously River left the conference last year, leaving us with six member schools. We have extended an invitation to Barnesville but they will not join due to the distance to Fort Frye. Buckeye Trail is in the process of exiting for membership in the I.V.C. their board approved the potential move but it is dependent on the other three invited schools moving as well (Tusky Valley, Indian Valley, and Claymont). We were told that unless something unexpected happens, all of them will move to join which would be a two year process. Not sure if that means this year and gone next season or participate next season and leave the following. That would leave us with five member schools assuming nobody else abandons ship. As an athletic director this makes scheduling extremely difficult, especially for football as you would be looking at 60% of your schedule being non-conference, where as if you were in a stable league the vast majority of your scheduling takes care of itself. All of the remaining schools are members of the O.V.A.C. but there is a lot of travel scheduling many of those schools. It will be interesting to see the status of the league over the next several months.

As for football scheduling, Caldwell was dropped by Newcomerstown week one, Bridgeport week three, and Barnesville week six. We have picked up Shadyside week three and Rosecrans week six as replacements. Working on a home game with an out of state school week one. Finding football opponents is not easy to do.

Does anyone have any insight as to why Buckeye Trail chose to leave? The IVC schools in their division are over an hour away or close to it and the Warriors have little or no tradition/ history with any of them, save the occasional district meeting. Will this affect their OVAC status?

I'm all about an occasional change or a fresh new start, but East Canton????

I know MC and Caldwell both lose a lot of skilled players, so who's gonna be decent in 2015.

I can't blame Buckeye Trail for opting out of the OVAC. If Beallsville closes it's doors then the conference down to 48. No wonder the OVAC pushing for Warren Local and Parkersburg to join to keep it at 50 with 5 divisions.

Our A.D. told me that Trail is staying in the OVAC and just leaving the PVC for the IVC.

Caldwell's only skilled player not back is WR Tanner Baker who was a really good player. They return every other skilled position guy on the team. They lost one starting offensive lineman and one starting defensive lineman and a defensive back who didn't start most of the time. They had 6 seniors and two of those never got to play and other than Baker nobody was an impact player. They are going to be really good.

So the PVC has dwindled down to Monroe Central, Fort Frye, Frontier, Caldwell and Shenandoah?
Looks like the end of the line for the ol' PVL when I remember schools like Meadowbrook and Beallsville in it, as well as River, um, Skyvue, and others I've forgotten.
