South Point Coach Resigning
South Point Coach Resigning
I heard today that Coach Marcello let the football team know that he was not coming back next year.
Thoughts on who should take over?

Re: South Point Coach Resigning
Before any one speculates as to why he is leaving. He is leaving due to an illness in his family. If this did not happen I feel he would have been back this year. This year did not go as expected. We may not have won very many games but we did compete with class and sportsmanship during his tenure. Good Luck to him I know my son will miss him. I am hoping a new coach will be able to keep some of the assistants. I don't see any of them becoming the head coach at this time. Most of them are not teachers .
Re: South Point Coach Resigning
I am sorry to hear about his family but he was not the right selection from the start.
SP had the right person for the job but the BOE went in a different direction. When they get a new coach I am sure he will bring some of his own staff with him and maybe keep a few of the others on.
BOE find someone that can build a program from top to bottom you will need it with Ironton, Portsmouth and Gallipolis coming into the league. You have a great facility go out and get a proven coach.

They will need to really step back and see where their program is going.

Now, there is another coach in the OVC, that needs to do the same thing.
Re: South Point Coach Resigning
I understand but what he has done to the program might not be able to be fixed. If they were serious about looking for a new coach don't you think the process would have already started? If it has everything is being kept a secret. Finish with 17 kids for that size of school is really bad.
